Im mounting a full motion TV mount on a brick wall. I plan on going into mortar an i dont plan on using the plastic anchors supplied with mount.
Im thinking a sleeve anchor in the mortar. Any opinions, thoughts?

How big is the tv? Why not use toggle bolts?

55" and about 50 to 55 lbs with mount.

Sleeve anchors or wedge anchors are definitely the right choice.
Going into the mortar will get conflicting opinions. I’ve never had trouble with it and it’s been more consistent. I’ve had some old brick just crumble when I drilled into it.
I’d suggest targeting horizontal mortar joints as the mortar bed is usually more consistent there.

Im with you LSUTigerME, its a debate for sure whether to go in brick or mortar. I agree that mortar is the way. Bricks can crack and mortar is easier to fix or fill holes

4 tapcons and a high torque drill is plenty.

Tapcon screws into mortar with pre drilled pilot holes. Have mounted several like this.

It seems like there is an equal number of "experts" say to tap into the mortar and tap into the brick.
Personally I've always tapped into the mortar, but that was only for an end to a privacy fence, thus not really a lot of cantilevered weight.

Tapcon into brick or lead nails/drive pins into brick.

I recently hung and outdoor TV and used a ceiling mount. Very easy.
