Mosquito Control Licensing Question

Looking for licensed pest control applicators/mosquito control applicators.
Im looking to get into mosquito control as a side business and have been led in multiple different directions.
Is there experience required in order to receive a license in MOSQUITO CONTROL?
Some have said there is no experience required for mosquitos but one must have experience for other pest control services. I have taken all the steps necessary to become licensed other than take the test. Looking for insight on this matter. Thanks in advance.

Unless they've changed the laws you'll need a degree in entomology or working under a commercial applicator for a year.

Is this stuff not defined on the first page of the test study guide?
Knowing the qualifications would seem like a key point to know if you were "legal".

I have not seen or may have looked over qualifications for strictly mosquito control. Which is why I have resorted to this in an attempt for someone who may know the exact information I am looking for.

Can’t answer your question but why don’t you send an email to Dr. Kristen Healy with the LSU AgCenter LINK she’s also board member of the Louisiana Mosquito Control Association. If she doesn’t know no doubt she can put you in touch with someone at the LA Department of Agriculture and Forestry etc. who administers the pesticide licensing and certification programs who will be able answer your questions.

I would have a hard time believing that Mosquito Control Licensing is any different then standard pest control license? All they are really doing is concentrating on one pest, but some of the chemicals are not any different.

Mosquito Control is treated differently due to disease spread requiring the Dept of Health to be involved. There are surveillance and reporting aspects that are not done for a lot of the other pests.

Out of idle curiosity, I looked at the Franchise Requirements for Mosquito Joe and nothing mentioned any type of state licensing (other than business) requirements.
Mosquito Joe claims to be a "Mosquito Control" company.
Given that, I think the question would be....
"What type of Mosquito Control are you talking about?"
The Louisiana Pesticide Licensing and Certification lists the following types of licenses (and assume there are varying qualifications for each):
* Ground Owner Operator License – Commercial Pesticide Application companies engaged in the business of applying any pesticide by ground.
* Aerial Owner Operator – Phenoxy License – Commercial Pesticide Application companies engaged in the business of applying phenoxy pesticides by aircraft.
* Aerial Owner Operator – Non-Phenoxy License – Commercial Pesticide Application companies engaged in the business of applying non-phenoxy pesticides by aircraft.
* RUP Dealer License – Companies engaged in the business of selling restricted use pesticides or state restricted use pesticides.
* Agricultural Consultant License – Companies engaged in the business of making pesticide recommendations for a fee. Agricultural Consultant recommendations must be made in specific format (Pesticide Law RS 3:3201-3389 Section 3246.

You have to obtain a structural pest control license to open a mosquito control business. You have to work 4 years under a license holder and take licensee test. OR If you have an entomology degree you can just take the test. You don’t want to get caught operating without the correct license. OR you could buy a franchise and operate under the licensee of that person.

Under no circumstances can you operate without a license. You have to either work under a license or have one. Just because you buy a mosquito joe franchise doesn’t mean you are legal to spray.

Ground Owner Operator License
Is what you need. There is a specific test to be licensed for Mosqutios. You have to identify different types of them based on anatomy on the test
