i am think about installing a small 4-5 spotlight kit for the front of my house. how many lumens do i need to illuminate front windows, columns, etc? I looked at a kit this morning at Home Depot that was 50 lumens but i am not sure that is either too much or not enough. thoughts?

We had a thread a month or 2 ago but I don’t think anyone mentioned lumens. I could be wrong though.

That is on the low side. I would try to get to 100 if you’re going up columns.

We installed about 20 or so in the front and backyard. Hampton bay from home depot was our choice. So far we are happy.
Outdoor spotlight pack with 4 light kit with transformer. You can add lights from there or just get additional packs.

These spotlights are 164 Lumens. The trees are maybe 10-12 feet tall. I hope that helps.

Probably enough, with new LED fixtures it's easier to put up too much light now. Though it also depends on what effect you want. I only have two wall-wash fixtures and they cover the entire front of my house with enough light that it's not so much I have to pull the curtains over.

Tamu thanks that does help. Now I know 50 is not near enough.

I bought these om Amazon. Says they are 500 lumens. They are pretty bright looking out from inside, but from the street they look great. I also use them on columns and also the side of the house. Make sure you get the quick install clips - worth the $$.

Just bought a set of Volt low voltage lights. More expensive than the stuff at Lowe’s/Home Depot but high quality, lifetime warranty, and easy to install. By the time you add up buying the lights, transformer, and wire separately, it’s actually not too much more expensive.
They have some sets at Costco if you’re a member.

Amazon-Zuckeo lights
I finished up in installation last night. I went with the lights from amazon (link above). i just ordered 2 more lights and will install them on the gutters focused on the two windows that are not current illuminated.
