dude I think you might have the coolest patio in the state.
Thank you boss. That's exactly what I set out to do. After my second kid was born I realized I was not vacationing to the tropics again for a while, so I tried to turn my back patio into a resort. The problem is that I don't have any resort workers to maintain it all
One of the coolest things to do is get off work early, make a rum drink, and pull all the large trees around your lounger for shade.

Got my mango delivered at. 6 am this morning. Definitely the best looking one I’ve gotten! Well worth the price!

My in-ground Cecilove mango just started pushing new growth. The great zone push experiment is well underway.

Very nice. Couple of observations. You probably already know this but I'd rather spit it out and help and prevent any future problems.
First, is that planted high enough? Looks deep because I can't see any of the root flare. But when I zoom in it's hard to tell.
Second, from the picture it looks like it has one very long main trunk. You want that thing to start branching early, like 12-18 inches from the bottom so that you have fruit bearing branches lower down. This this will live it's whole life in a pot. You won't want it to grow into a tree that starts branching at 4 feet and setting fruit 7/8/9 feet off the ground. If I'm right from the picture, now would be the time to clip the whole thing at the point you want all branches to begin from.
Anyway, hard to tell from the pic. Thing looks very healthy! Soil mix looks like it's loaded with sand and perlite, which is what you want. The water should just get slurped down when it hits the surface because it's draining so well.

quote:yeah I followed your recommendations and it has a lot of sand and added a bunch more pumice this go round.

Good call on the pumice. Even better than perlite, just heavy. Yeah remove soil until that root flare can breathe. You want that thing exposed. Bet that pot is heavy AF just like my 25gal

Yes. That was poorly phrased. I meant now as in when it's very young. Ideally you want it to start branching at hip height. That will be a different point on the trunk for pot vs ground. Regardless of either, the branching should start at your hip. This will keep your fruit off the ground but not too high to protect.
