Laying Down Centipede Seed at End of August/Beginning of September?

Due to some time constraints, I won't be able to setup for laying down centipede seed until the very end of August/beginning of September. I am not seeding my whole lawn. I have a handful of large bare spots that I am filling in.
I know I won't be able to lay down a fall pre-emergent this year, but other than that, are there other downsides of starting seed at that time?

I mean you have irrigation, right?
Just keep it watered and follow the directions the sod farm or installer gives you and you should be fine.

I was planning on seeding everything, not using sod.
The main reason for the concern is that researching online made me think the centipede seed would not have enough time to germinate and establish itself before cold weather sets in.

Oh in all honesty I’m not familiar with centipede seed hopefully someone else can chime in.

That would be my concern, plus maybe the start dry weather so lot of watering over a long period of time. Sod not a good option?
The one or 2 times I’ve I tried centipede seed I didn’t get good results, but I’ll readily admit that might have been a “me” problem and not the seed.

It's very slow growing from seed

I’ve tried seeding and it’s not been successful for me. I believe that may also be too late for centipede seed.

in my experience it takes about 8 weeks to germinate but I was at woerner turf the other day and they claim that their centipede seed does not take that long. would look into it. but sod is always the fastest option if you can swing it

Thanks for this nugget of info. Looks like a good place to check out. Their coated seeds sound interesting.
I'm not against sod, but 75%+ of my yard already has pretty good coverage of centipede. It's the remaining 25% of patchiness that I am trying to fill in. Patches came about due to various reasons, and they are all different shapes and sizes. It seemed easier to do some leveling then fill in patches with seed versus cuttting sod or trying to make it fit in the patches, some patches would require a piece of a square, some patches several squares, etc.

Do they not sell plugs for centipede? I have St Aug and can only use sod or plugs. I don't need the whole yard, just spots that died last year when they put up our patio. I have been using plugs. They have rooted and are doing well just waiting on them to spread and start filling in.
