I installed this about two years ago. It started making all kinds of funny noises recently. I've changed the batteries and tried factory resets. Nothing will get it back to operation. I feel like two years is BS for this product, should be well past five years before it gives up.

Thoughts?

I think it's the quality because I had to replace 2 of 3 regular Kwikset locks that would not release the key.
They were about 10 years old, so I replaced them with Schlage units.

I have 2 of those that stopped working after 2-2 1/2 years. One of them is not in weather, it’s under the patio on the back door. Tried everything as well. Then all of a sudden it started automatically locking after you close the door and the key pad wouldn’t open it back up.

We have 2 kwikset on our home. Both are the same but one has buttons and one has a light up touchpad. The one with the touchpad EATS batteries. Like a set every two months even though it is used like once a week. I contacted kwikset about the 14 month mark becaude I had enough. Sorry we can’t do anything for you the warranty is a year.

I have Schlage on the basement door and the front door for 7 years now. I change the 9 volt battery on average about 2 years apart. They do act a bit odd but the weird activity usually means they battery is due for a change out.

Perhaps you can remove it, make sure all the parts are moving without constraint, lightly grease parts, get it back in there and test it.

Good luck!
