Any recommendations for a tile backsplash install in the BR area?

I don’t have any recommendations but what kind of tile are you installing?

I just did a basic subway tile myself and it was super easy

Ours is basically the same. 3x9 glass tile. We thought about trying ourselves but weren’t feeling too confident.

It’s really not difficult at all. I have pretty much no skill when it comes to either carpentry or brick laying and outside of one spot where the forgot to put a spacer and fricked the spacing it it looks good.

It turned out to be a pretty fun little project

Richard with Shamrock Flooring did both flooring and backsplash work for us. Good pricing and did a really good job with both.

He has a Facebook page under Shamrock Flooring LLC

I did mine a few months ago. 0 experience. Learned a couple tough lessons along the way, but it's mostly just small flaws that only I notice. Biggest thing is just make sure you're 100% on your plan, design, spacing, etc. before starting. Don't want to put up half a wall and realize you should've done something differently or that it's not going to go around an appliance, corner, cabinet, or whatever correctly.

I enjoyed it mostly, other than the grouting. I hated grouting.

One last factor is what's your timeline? If you do it yourself with no experience and can only work on it during the weekends, it might mean your kitchen is a mess for several weeks. A pro might have it done in one day.

Same as other responses. Did it myself with zero experience and turned out great. Had to buy a small tile saw. Also had to install fiber board on some runs so my only advice is to make sure the wall, fiber board, etc is all straight or else you’ll see some waves when standing at certain angles. Good luck.

It's not too difficult, but hiring someone will make the job better than what you would do.

Wow, I had no idea. Guess we won’t be using them for our next project...
