yes it’s fairly mind blowing
and easier to access…you pull the stored content towards you and pick from above instead of digging horizontally

huge improvement

How much do you freeze dry? I’m just curious, well obviously it’s a lot? I’ve never heard of someone putting in a commercial style machine in their home but very interesting.

it’s a home unit

I got the medium sized one. The plan is to freeze dry as much of the garden surplus that we can in lieu of freezing or canning

the shaker trim is poplar I’m not sure what the plywood is, paint-grade something or other, probably birch

Thanks. My phon3 screen is jacked, so I couldn't tell if it was poplarbut it did look like it. By the number of plies, it definitely looks like birch plywood. And mdf for the shaker door panels?

Poplar paints up really well. I need to get a new phone tomorrow.

I wonder if they outsource their doors like most cabinet shops do these days. I actually enjoy doing coping and sticking on the router table and making shaker doors, but for most cabinet shops, it's cheated easier to order them.

yes on the MDF
I’m not sure what all they actually did in the cabinet shop other than fit and assembly but they may have done it all. This is my first experience with wood cabinets/millwork we always did melamine and plam in the commercial world I worked in.

they came out very nice and the price wasn’t bad at all. Still need to pick knobs and pulls, I’m thinking I’ll make a jig to make install of those easier

Why the cement board on the kitchen walls? I was assuming you’d backsplash it with tile but looks like you painted it or overlaid with ply? Just curious

???

I’m going to tile it over full height. Not sure what you are seeing. Speaking of, I’m thinking about brick veneer for that, something like this

anyone got experience with this? We installed it on walls at a restaurant we built in BR and it came out nice but I’m wondering if it will be too much in a kitchen

countertops installed

when I get back in town I’ll schedule the appliance delivery and the plumber. Once that’s done, and I install the hood, kitchen will be back in business

We’ve decided on a thin brick veneer for the wall splash behind the kitchen cabinets, just need to pick from samples. Next phase will be demo of existing and install of new kitchen ceiling and lights

Looks great. Don't see quality Formica installations like that anymore.

Nah knew it was some kinda stone, I was just being a dildo and wanted to give you some regret anxiety.

If you ever want to break the soul of a woman, walk into her kitchen and say how you can hardly tell the countertops are Formica when they look like real stone. Then watch the soul of her husband leave when he realized she will shortly want new countertops.

Can't say I knew they were making porcelain countertops. Thats new to me.

you had me going, we’ll done.
I haven’t seen them in person yet but it’s a porcelain slab product…you get the best of ceramic without the grout lines/etc.

option 4 imo. 1 is too white, 2 looks like frosted cereal, 3 color is too similar to surroundings. 4 is best balance of some color, not too jarring, complimentary to other finishes

I prefer the one you posted above instead of the offset pattern and more brick look here.
