Base cabinet in front of elec panel is a code violation. If that matters to you.

I’m moving the fridge out and the W/D to the left so I can get to it. It was covered up before by the washer

i think the house was built by someone involved with acadian cypress...all the downstairs walls are pecky and all the trim is rough cut cypress. i went over there to get some new trim made and they all knew the house LOL

Whoa, you're squeezing an island cabinet in there? Gonna be tight opening drawers, maneuvering. Full extension drawers come out way further than you think.

That peck cypress is beautiful.

thanks I’m excited
I live in Hammond, Acadian is one of my subcontractors for the business

the island will take some getting used to no doubt but it will double as a prep table and a folding table, plus kitchen storage

update

cabinets are finished and painted, laundry room walls are repaired and painted, and i was able to unpack and put away all the bins of kitchen stuff that have been piled up in my house. countertops are scheduled for week after next and my appliances are at the dealer awaiting delivery.

i ran all the new outlets for the fridge/freezers/range and DW, and took down the old light fixtures.

laundry room
the wide closet where the ladders and shite are is where the new fridge/freezer columns will go. they will fit recessed/flush inside the closet door opening.

kitchen

this is what we are doing on the kitchen ceiling...1x6 flat boards covering the gyp board with 4x4 veneer faux beams attached. the beams are coming from the olde mill in BR, veneer will be cypress.

additionally i've ordered two 42" cypress floating shelves for the wall next to the single upper cabinet.

super pleased with the new cabinets...i have tons of empty cabinets and drawers left so space should not be a concern. i'm so happy to be rid of all those upper cabinets we had

Kudos. Great work and you won't regret it, given the amount of time you spend in that new space.

Are you sanding the floors after installation?

there’s a guy called “mr sandless” that I’m going use to refinish the wood floors and the brick floors. The brick extends into my den so he is going to basically do the whole first floor. that should help a bunch

on the budget I’m at 7500 so far on paint with probably 2500 or so to go. The beams were 3000, the new lights were about 1000, and the freeze dryer was 3000.

depending on the plumber I should be right in line. Still need to pick a tile for the back wall in the kitchen. I had budgeted some money for electrical but I wound up doing it all myself since I got lucky on circuits and locations. I can do the kitchen ceiling if I can get a helper, I’ve decided to remove the existing drywall so I can access the joists and framing above so I’ve got one more mess to make.

Drawers are much more efficient storage than cupboards. I tell anyone building a kitchen to put in as many drawers as possible.
