If you were meaning for me to reset HOC I just went down to 1 1/8”
Couldn’t see well so 7/8” seemed too ambitious.

Potentially heavy rain tonight. Maybe several inches.

Total brain fart on my end. Reset HOC. Heights of cut.

It could be but most farms I’m familiar with don’t overseed. Could be an anomaly and turning the lawn off and back on fixes it.

You’ll probably be resetting hoc anyway due to rain

It was a guess based on the look. The above picture is palisades and they look similar to me.

Ronk I don’t think you’re wrong on it being Zoysia. I’m on a business trip in Atlanta right now and they have this fine blade Zoysia up here. It sort of has a golf course Zoysia look to it. Possibly Emerald Zoysia. But yeah, my Palisades Zoysia is not the prettiest cultivar of Zoysia, but over here it’s tough and doesn’t need to be watered or pampered which works good for me because I’m gone a lot.

It’s Rye!! How could they do this to me?!
Now I’m stuck with PRG as late as mid May, and I’ve got to spray it out so the lawn will look like shite for a few weeks. Dammit!

And I knew it all along!

I’m beyond pleased with the color potential. Can’t wait to push it with fert, iron, pgr.

Looks like a perennial rye!

Yes, sourced from near Foley,AL.
They don’t grow TifTuf in Donaldsonville.

I kind of understand why they do it, but hey! They could communicate it to the buyer….

I had the same issue with 50 pallets of 419 last spring. Same - sourced from AL.

I had an infestation of armyworms soon after laying the sod so they destroyed a lot of the rye in it, along with the good turf. That's one thing I would recommend you doing - get down an insecticide once it's established. I'm not sure if those sod farms use insecticides at all, but after that fiasco, I will never miss treating the yard.

Dude…that’s terrible.
I’ve applied disease ex, Bifen granules, and Talstar liquid. Should be good.

I think I may bite the bullet and blanket spray MSM Turf tonight.

Which specific formulation of Feature are you using? I just put down TifTuf 2 weeks ago, so I am not far behind you.

I do have an entire bag of the Lesco 30-0-10 that Lowe's had on clearance recently. Need to evaluate if that is acceptable to use on the new sod.

I was cautious and only used 1.5 oz for my 900 sq ft.
I'll probably do another 3 oz middle of next week.

I would say it's totally fine. If you're noticing that it clumps up just clean it out with water. If it's not working for you just get some 20-0-0 at Lowe's.

Do you have Rye in yours too?

No "rye" in mine - at least that I can see. Not sure where it's sourced from but I got the sod from Jefferson Feed.

Would you spoon feed again knowing that it’s got rye in it?

Or kill the rye first?

Fert it. Heat/MSM will kill the rye soon enough.

I applied the MSM...
Sprayed it around 2:00 PM on Saturday with 10 oz of AMS and a surfactant.
1/8 tsp diluted in 1.5 gallons of water.

I sprayed the Centipede on the left as well as all of the bermuda/rye.

Label says not to apply on turf less than a year old! Hoping it all pulls through! The heat is coming!

There's very little Rye grass left and the bermuda seems to be taking the two apps of MSM Turf in stride. The transition has been hardly noticeable.
First app of MSM was 1/8 tsp, followed by 1/16 tsp a week later.

Mowed at 7/8" on Saturday and haven't cut since.
PGR should be kicking in about now (also applied Saturday)

My plan was to mow 1 1/8" on Thursday and it's looking like I can stretch it until then fairly easily.
7/8" is indeed too low in the lawn's current state.
Y'all were right. I'll be leveling soon. Jim Stone is now affiliated with SiteOne and it sounds like they have some really clean mason sand

What manual reel are you using? My Fiskars is almost killing me going through year 2 TifTuf at the lowest setting (1”) and that’s cutting every three days.
