Thanks, I’m totally new to sod. Read a lot, but it’s nerve wracking once you’ve actually done it.

You could basically roll that sod out on concrete and keep it watered and it would live. Tell that neighbor to cut down that pine tree.

They're mine! And I just can't bring myself to do that to our street in our traditional neighborhood

I'll get them trimmed and will experiment with plugging that side next summer, or just get another $205 pallet of Tif Tuf.
It gets good sun in the afternoon, I just haven't been home all day on a sunny day to measure the hours yet.

I’m more worried about portions of the rolls that were basically dead upon arrival.
They’re not dead. Even centipede (or “pede” as someone called it here recently lol), can come looking like trash and green up really healthy.

Also your post regarding the price per pallet being $400, that is price for the sod and labor to lay it.

I bet you were surprised at how easy it was to lay those rolls. The squares are a PITA compared to the rolls.

Yup. Just another reason to go with "certified" as the lady called it

Regarding "Pede", I read that as Pay-day and thought, what the hell? Is there a grass down here I don't know about??

Still, I thought $205 was damn good for a great hybrid.
Quality Sod wanted $290 for 419.

Sheesh, I think I paid $215 for 419 years and years ago when I installed it, but that included delivery if I bought more than 10 pallets, which I did.

Woerner. Quality Sod closed down.
I was shocked at how affordable TifTuf was. Was expecting $300 to 400 per pallet. It was just $205 per.

damn, that ain't bad. I work right near Woerner. I wonder if I could haul a pallet home in my truck

Yes, they said you can pick up one in your truck. Weighs about a ton.

edit: Just call ahead though because the TifTuf comes from Alabama.

Awesome, I might do that. It's taking a really long time for the bermuda in my front yard to choke out the st aug. I'm getting impatient

Just make sure you're ok with mixing different cultivars. If I recall, you have celebration.

I already have common mixed in with the celebration. If I got the sod I'd be nuking the front yard with roundup before laying it.

I'm interested to see how fast yours takes off. Keep us updated, it's going to look awesome.

How fast it is going to take off? Hell it is probably rooted down already.

Grok said it's one of the fastest, but should still take at least 7 days.
I'm giving it 10-14 since I didn't prep as good as I could have.

There is at least some rooting happening five days after install.

There would probably be a good bit more if lows hadn’t been in the mid 40s

Looks great already. Give it a good starter fertilizer and start mowing once it's rooted down and it'll take off!

I’m beyond pleased with the color potential. Can’t wait to push it with fert, iron, pgr.

Looks like a perennial rye!
