This weed has sprouted up all over our front flowerbeds. I'll kill it with Glyphosate and it just comes back in like 2-3 weeks. I've pulled it and it just comes back. Its between all of our flowers/plants, therefore I'm hesitant on what to use that wouldn't kill the plants to, but at this point...I dont care lol. Would Sedgehammer kill it for good? Do I need a surfactant added? Any advice is appreciated! I'm just about ready to dig up the entire flowerbed down 3-4" and start new again.

Is Permit or Sedgehammer safe for surrounding plants? Like can I just spray everything?

Nutsedge.

Roundup won't keep it dead. The only thing I've found that would keep it dead was Dismiss. You're going to panic at the price, but one bottle will last you for years.

I backed up to a lake with a lot of wind, and I had to keep a sprayer with the Dismiss ready to roll. I had to spray once every week or two, somewhere. Usually not in the beds, just the grass, but you have to nip it in the bud ASAP. There were people in the hood (expensive arse houses) whose yards were completely taken over by Sedge.

Nutsedge can DIAF.

Sounds like it's a huge PITA...I'll definitely checkout Dismiss! At this point, I'll try anything to get this stuff dead and out of the flowerbeds for good.

I hate to say what I’m not 100% sure but I spray both very haphazardly in flower beds and find them to be VERY selective and not bother other plants. Ronk or someone who knows more can chime in.

I really don’t get the hate for Nutsedge. It’s grassy and not hideous like VBW or Chamber Bitter. Those make me want to vomit.

I guess I just haven’t experienced how it can takeover.

I wouldn't mind nutsedge if it didn't grow 3x taller than the grass around 1 day after you mowed your lawn.

Yes it is nutsedge and you can use Sedgehammer to control it. You should add surfactant as stated on the product label. Be persistence, and patient, it will require additional applications as new plants emerge from the nutlets/tubers.

You can get the little packets of sedgehammer+ on Amazon that have Surfactant in them. Don’t try to pull them up. Only makes them worse.

I would not spray it on surrounding plants. Some will be effected and some it wouldn’t bother.
