If so, any quick fixes before the seed pods form?

Yes it is, RIP.

I have some in my lawn as well, interested in the responses. I don't want to hurt my lawn while it's greening up. I thought about putting MSM on it.

I guess we are going with the handpull method and will use a spray preemergent next year. Granular barricade left a lot to be desired

Yes. 24D is effective on it. I usually get Image for Southern Lawns (purple bottle).

I had it horrible all over my backyard. My dog would get dozens of the burrs all over his paws and legs. Sprayed this two years ago and haven't seen one burrweed in my yard since.

I did a blanket application of Atrazine in my lawn and it absolutely smoked the burweed.

I had some in my yard, but just in sections. I made a drink, put on some music, got gloves and a small garden trowel and simply removed all of it. Next year, just a handful to remove. This year, none. You can spray and kill them but if it already dropped seeds it will be back

That is quite possibly the healthiest burrweed specimen I have ever seen. That makes me mad just seeing a picture of it.

Boy do I have a picture to show you when I get home.

I never saw a hint of burweed at my house until 1 year I brought in a load of dirt to fill in some low spots. Now every year I'm dealing with it. Last year I got down and hand picked it from my backyard but there was too much in the front to do much about. I have bermuda and atrazine will nuke my grass along with the weed. Looking at the spot that is the worst this year, I'm probably just going to go ahead and apply it anyway. It'll look like crap this year but oh well. I'm tired of dealing with it.

That’s what happened to me. Hand pulled for an hour and a half. There wasn’t anything spiny on these so I am hoping I got to them before. Never had a problem until this year after using a granular preemergent. All spray from now on.
