Is my gas still good to use?

I have about 15 gallons of gas in three five-gallon containers, completely sealed using watertight aftermarket caps, that have sat in my backyard for around two years. I added fuel stabilizer when I first purchased the gas, but I am reading conflicting reports as to whether the gas is still good or not.

On one hand, I think it being in sealed containers means it's likely okay to mix with fresh gas for use. On the other, the gas being two years old scares me.

How do I dispose of this if it's not good? I don't want to lose the cans by bringing it to a hazardous disposal day.

Pour it out on ant beds, yellow jacket holes, etc. Even use to start burn piles(Be Careful). Been sitting out in hot summers and cold winters, I'd not put it in any engine of mine.

I'd mix it in with fresh gas a little at a time. Have a 15 gallon tank on your truck? Pour two gallons in of old gas and fill the other 13 gallons with new. Have a boat with a big tank? Do something similar. Put a little in the lawnmower at a time but dilute it with alot of new gas. It will be fine

FIL has 3 plastic 2 gal cans sitting in a small enclosure in his back yard and he tags the cans with a date. He uses a stabilizer and, after 2 years it is still good to go. He will mix new fuel in the can after he uses a gallon or so.

Personally, I wouldn't use it or mix it in any engine. Potentially causing issues to save about 45 bucks of gas probably isn't worth it.

1:3 ratio of old to new gas is common practice.

What I suggested as diluting it even further will cause absolutely no harm. He even mentioned its been sealed up with stabilizer

Might not have been sealed very well. Gas fumes have to vent, plus condensation occurs in the gas jug. Its not worth the risk towards damaging an engine and its components.

I get what you are saying but at a mix of 15 gallons to 2 gallons old, any little bit of water will be taken up by the new gasoline assuming he mixes it with fuel that contains ethanol. Engines aren't as fragile as we often think

That's an expensive amount of gasoline to have ignored 2 years

Man, I fill one huge gas can up in the Spring and it lasts me until the Fall and sits in my non-climate controlled garage. Is that bad for my mower?!

I've used gas that old in my boat with no issues but I have a water separator inline before the engine.
