looks great. the reason for all 3 for me, old owner(I've been there now, summer #2) orginailly had 419 but didnt care for it so the common took over. He had a swimming pool and other yard stuff.. so nothing was growing. So I bought it and put celebration in where the spots of no grass were and that is performing very well. Hopefully it'll take over everywhere.

The celebration and tif should end up being the dominant grass. The common will always be there but it will be less noticeable

I'm pretty proud of my front yard. It’s a really deep green zoysia. Well, almost all of it. There are still a small section that hasn’t been taken over by zoysia.

I do have a neighbor that has a yard that looks like the OP’s pic. He’s working in it every single day.
Never measured it but it’s between .5-1”. He will kill the grass in late summer and seed it with a northern grass. Cuts it with a really nice reel mower.

Pics of both??

I had the same issue. She would chop my centipede down to the dirt. Eventually I went talk to her and she raised her mower blades. She must have sprayed for weeds the other day and burned about half her yard.

I like my Freedom Lawn.....

I do too.
mine is a mishmash of Bahia, st aug, centipede, clover, leaves, pinestraw , many other mutt type grasses and greenery and even bare dirt over 6 acres. I think there is a ratio of weeds that should be tolerated as long as they aren’t taking over.
I keep mine about 3.75 or higher

The requirements to maintain are crazy though

That's why Bermuda is a weed everywhere except a golf course.

Not even close to being a weed. It is easy to maintain. Grows in full sun, drought resistant, doesn't get fungus, wears well, recovers well, loves fert and gets dark green, no chinch bugs, all weeds are treatable.

What's so funny? If you can't maintain bermuda I'd hate to see what your St Aug or centipede looks like.

I so want to redo my whole front yard (2500sf) with Bermuda but it would be a big grading job and I’m thinking my St Aug will have to suffice but yeah St Aug can be a pain, whereas Bermuda can just take everything face first

Bermuda is so forgiving. Didn't put down a pre em? Doesn't matter you can treat whatever pops up. Irrigation system broke? No worries put water on it when you can. Crawfish boil water dumped on the lawn? No big deal-just fert it and it will bounce back.

Accidentally nuked your entire yard with a spray tank that had Glyphosate residue? Just give it a few months and it will come back. Speaking from experience.

You've got to be kidding. Do you know what bermuda grass is? St. Aug requires nothing. You mow every two weeks with any mower from a box store. Cent even less.

It is the only grass that stands up to my dog pissing on it. He still browns the heck out of it, but it still comes back eventually.
