I let myself get talked in to an electric mower Update: I returned it
I've been mowing with a mower I found in the trash 12 years ago. Honda engine that's been on multiple decks. I finally got fed up with it and went to purchase a new Honda at home depot.

I was tempted to try electric but was worried I'd have trouble in my st aug. There was a Ryobi sales rep there who was very good looking. I let myself get distracted and walked out with this

Just finished mowing with it, pretty happy with the purchase. It chewed through my st aug without bogging down which is something the gas mower wouldn't do. It's weird that it doesn't make any noise and isn't as satisfying as cranking up a gas engine. Feels like it's well built and the self propel will yank your arms off if you aren't careful.

I have 1/3 of an acre and it mowed on one battery.

I’ve been running one just like that for a little over 2 months. 0 complaints so far. I couldn’t be more impressed.

I was worried but I'm glad I did it. The batteries can be used with other ryobi blowers/etc. If my yard were bigger I wouldn't have done it.

Assembled in the US, lifetime warranty on the deck, 3 years on battery and 5 on motor.

Good luck my man! She must have been one smokin' young lady! I guess I'm old school and all I know are gas lawn mowers, but I might be willing to try one down the road if they prove to be reliable. Keep us updated on how it works out!

There is a lot of good options and as the next years ago by this category will grow.

Typically your lawn tractors and Zero turns have built in batteries which should not be removed. These are exempt from my advice.

My advice buy into a battery line.

What I mean by that is if you buy the mower buy the same brand trimmer along with the blower.
- easier to keep the batteries charged versus having a blower than runs on battery a, trimmer on battery B, and a mower on battery C.

- If all your tools run on the same battery if one battery or charger goes down you have an extra battery along with a charger.

Friends tell me the electric mowers are great. But I’m not ready to go that route

just bought a greenworks 16" 40 volt off Amazon. I have a big yard, but not a ton of grass, so it's perfect for between flower beds, trees, etc.. Two full cuts on one charge. No trouble with the grass. folds up to a small footprint and is super light.

Bruh, if that’s St aug you are mowing waaaaay too low. Needs to be 3-4”. Even over 4” which is the tallest many residential mowers will go is not bad.

Why even cut your grass? Might as well just become a field.

I cut my St Aug low. 2”. Crap grows fast and it’s not hurting it. 3 inches is ideal but if I start letting it go taller, we get snakes coming up from the back field.

I have a mix of st aug and centipede. Hoping the centipede takes over.

I cut low because I'm spraying Virginia buttinweed tomorrow

Good for you if it works, but every yard is different. My backyard is all St. Aug, and it's about half an acre. Front is another half acre. With all this rain, I have to cut it twice at different heights when I catch a couple of dry days.

Then again, if I'd known that my neighbor was going to borrow my mower and return it with two fricked up tires, I'd be better off with an electric push mower.
