I dont want to fire someone with an excavator. I dont need a quick solution. Can i just cut the truck at the root and do something to it to kill it?

Yes, just cut the trunk low enough to allo your mower over it. If you can
t get the cut low enough for the mower, new sprouts off the low stump aresensitive to roundup. If all that sounds like too much work, get a chain and a dooley

You can chainsaw it at the root, drill some holes in that, and dump roundup on that. Or bust the roots up with an axe. I did that with some box hedges and dug the root out. Wasn't that hard once it started to die off.

Also cut down my holly bushes several years ago and let them grow back. They were getting too tall to manage with the hedge trimmers, and did it in the spring time. They got about a foot and a half tall by the end of summer, but the next year took off, if you don't want them totally gone.

You can cut it to the ground, drill some holes and put epsom salt in the stump, and it will dry out and decompose rather quickly.

I have seen the water line(house main/sprinkler system) and sewer line sometimes get ripped apart with this method

I had about 15-20 of them and wrapped a tow strap around them and pulled them out with the truck. Quick and easy.

Seems legit.

All puns aside, it works.

Fair point. I guess just take it easy and have someone supervising when you’re ripping them out.

I have been taking out various shrubs and bushes around the house during this quarantine period. I had some that I cut down around my palm tree that had exceptionally large root balls imbedded in the ground. I broke a shovel handle in half trying to remove these tough roots. I bought a "Root Slayer XL" shovel and it kicks major arse. I highly recommend it when trying to get rid of anything with roots.

Interesting, how well does it do cutting pretty large tree roots?

I have 8 or 9 that are about 10' tall or more. Can you come take them down when you're done with your's?

I can't stand them
