Am putting plants out for Humming Birds. Does anyone know of a plant called an 'ugly shrimp' plant, where I might find one?

I have heard of shrimp plant sans the ugly part. I had them at my house in Florida.

ETA: I found it for sale online, just Google search. Also, check with Garden Spot in Mandeville.

If you have room, they will swarm blooming bottle brush trees.

I have a red and yellow Hibiscus "shrub" that is on the edge of my flowerbed with a feeder about 20' away, and them little birds love that plant.

Anything with nice color will attract them is what I have always been told.

Like others said anything bottle brush will bring them in. I also have them hit my yellow lantana and my pigmy butterfly bushes some. The butterflies love those too.

Cigar plant. Had 2 at previous house. They die back in the winter but return in the spring. Hummingbirds loved them.

They love the LA native tangerine crossvine, aka trumpet vine. It is a large, woody climber, so you need a tall trellis, large pergola, or other big structure to support it. In the wild, it will run 30’ plus.

We have a yard full of red and yellow blooms, but the blue salvia is the No. 1 favorite of the hummingbirds. Some years we will not see many hummers, but when they show it will be around that blue-blooming plant. Neighbor has one, and she reports the same.

Despite all the problems associated with it, Mimosa is a plant that hummingbirds absolutely love.

Sleepy Mallow a.k.a. Turk's Cap (malvaviscus arboreus)
Cross Vine
Trumpet Vine (Trumpet vine and Cross vine are different plants)
Salvias (excluding salvia splendens)
Spanish Flag
Cypress Vine
Milkweed
Butterfly Weed
Butterfly Bush
Bottlebrush
Tecoma Stans (Trumpet bush)
Fuchsia (but not heat hardy in Louisiana)
Shrimp Plant
Coral Honeysuckle
Red Buckeye
Zinnia
Lantana
Penstemon
Pentas
Kniphofia a.k.a. Red Hot Poker, tritoma, etc.
Firecracker plant
Fire Bush (hamelia patens)
Crocosmia
Ixia
Columbine
Bleeding Heart
Coral Bean
Fire Spike
Cardinal Flower

I've tried almost all of these over the years and the best attractants in my experience are Mimosa (two months bloom), Turk's Cap (6 months bloom), Coral Honeysuckle (blooms all year) and Salvias (varies between annual and perennial varieties). Although the hummingbirds like all the ones that I have planted. The key is to have a lot of plants and make sure that something is blooming all the time. This is where the Coral Honeysuckle shines.

Here is where you can get Justicia brandegeeana, Shrimp Plant. Almost Eden Plants

The best - Salvia guaranitica cultivars (except ‘Argentine Skies’). Here are several

Cuphea ‘Vermillionaire’. LINK

Many other red Salvia greggii hybrids and hybrids. Many among the 3 page list here

Lonicera sempervirens, native Honeysuckle

Erythrina x bidwillii

I have ordered from them many times. Some things appear to be out of stock. Of course local retailers may have some of this soon.
