We saw winter hummingbirds across South Louisiana since October. The bulk of summer migrants usually show up just before St Patrick's Day in much of Louisiana, but a few will be a bit earlier to places which have had flowers and/or feeders out early in years past. They remember. Planting Red Buckeye is a great plan since they like it, it produces a lot of nectar and it blooms about when they arrive. We have 5 small feeders which get drained in two days so we never get mold issues.
They are a lot of fun to watch.

Just saw a couple of black-chinned hummingbirds here in TX panhandle. They are feeding in tree next to house. I’m getting a feeder out tomorrow and try to get some pics with my flip phone. Pretty damn cool, first time I’ve seen one.

I saw the first one yesterday. Live south of I-10 across Mobile Bay.

I am seeing a few…not nearly as many as in years past, though.

None around my location.

It's early in my opinion. Yes, I have some, but I believe them to be locals done with nesting. I've put out at least 6 feeders in CENLA every year for at least a decade, and the ramp up never starts until mid- August at the earliest.

I've now got 3 around my house in BR. Last week it was only 1.

That's pretty common as they transition from insects.

I have three at my house in NW Arkansas. On a recent trip to Petit Jean State Park in Arkansas I had three hummers there at the feeder I take on trips.

I went and got a feeder like I said and sat on back porch waiting, nada. This afternoon I see one flying between mimosa trees, haven’t touched the feeder.

Fall migration is on in N Mississippi. Traffic started picking up Friday and has increased every day so far. The hummers drank 36 oz today.
