How many of you have Masonite siding on your homes?

What’s the usual maintenance like? Do you prefer it over vinyl siding?

Just go with Hardy plank and be done with it. I had a house years ago that had Masonite siding on the upper floor and it had spots where the paint on it was peeling and that allowed water to penetrate the substrate and it kind of got that blown out look like you'd get with particle board.
Too many other products that are much better out there to use as opposed to that antiquated crap.

I had that crap under my carport and on my back patio before the flood. It was wavy and wrapped after the flood and wouldn't dry out. I ripped it all out and replaced with hardy board and didn't regret it.

Mom and Dad had that on their house.
shite sucked if it got wet and it wasn't prepared/painted right. It would swell up.
Eventually Dad vinyl sided the whole house. Now Driftwood LNG can have the whole son of a bitch since they wanted it...they can have it...Hell I wish it had asbestos in the house. Let them deal with it.

I do and I'm fixing to have to replace the bottom 2 rows. Going back with Hardi.

yup...I'm going to siding or hardy board...
siding needs cleaning...
hardy board needs painting...

I would remove the rotten part and use vinyl spackling from Sherwin WIlliams.
I have a rental that has 60 year masonite that is holding up great. I think it was made better back then.

I bought a piece of property with an existing shop with Masonite siding. It’s terrible. Planning on replacing it with vinyl or Hardy soon.

If you fellas could spare some knowledge my way, I’d love some advice in a slight thread hijack. My screened in porch has hardy plank on the inside wall and I’d like to mount a tv on it. What would be the easiest way to go about it? Take the cover off of the outlet to figure out which side of the stud the outlet is mounted on then measure accordingly to mount directly into the next stud? The tv is 11lbs if that matters
