plumbers........how difficult is it to do a pressure test on my water lines to determine if there's a leak?

my water company said that i used 10k more gallons this month and i can't see any leak in the yard.

Can you not just turn all the water off and then see if the meter is still moving?

Turn off all water including toilets in case you have one that isn’t sealed well. Check the meter to see if the leak detection needle moves. I had a leak and this didn’t pick it up which means it’s a pinhole but that wouldn’t use 10k more gallons. If tha doesn’t help get a plumber who can’t test it all out. Doesn’t take much time.

If you're married and/or have teenage daughters, they can use this much in a week

Are you the original owner of the house? If not, have your bills all been relatively the same?

My prediction is that if you haven't noticed any unusual wet spots around the yard, then your water co must've come read the meter for the first time in a very long time have simply been averaging the usage over the past decade.

Its not hard but I doubt you have the tools to do it.

Need an air compressor and something like this. I made my own using one of these a gauge, and some air fittings to test both lines at the same time and blow out a water heater if needed. We PT and winterize a lot of vacant homes. If some of the idiots that work for me can do it then I imagine you can too.

You want to get the line to 35 PSI and see if it holds for at least an hour. If you have a gauge on your air compressor then you can buy this from Amazon and do it.

You have to get some x-ray glasses. They also work to see through women's clothes.

I had a toilet leaking.. I got a crazy bill and had no idea why.. I could barely hear the water running.. Had to take the cover off the tank and get close to the valve to hear the leak. I could have fought the bill but I would have had to have a receipt from a plumber for repairs. I repaired it myself and payed the bill.
