If that is part of the drainage infrastructure of the area, you might be able to ask the county/parish what is allowable.

Honestly, I would get a good sprayer and spray the shite out of that brush with glyphosate. Be careful of local restrictions when spraying anything over a “navigable waterway” though. I would probably find someone who does vegetation control on pipelines to see what he can do.

Or buy an Echo SRM-410U (brush cutter).

I have used the hell out of mine at my land. Will cut most trees up to 1.5" diameter. I say most because it has a hard time with cedar and hickory when they are bigger than an inch in diameter.

You can actually rent a small excavator fairly cheap for a weekend. That is what I would do

When I was in college, a plant had a summer jobs programs that hired about a dozen of us. There was a big thicket behind the plant that they wanted to clear of all but big trees and turn into a picnic type area. We used brush hooks, machetes, axes, loppers, and other hand tools and got after it. I think the supervisors were shocked at how quickly we plowed through it.

I cleaned up on my lot when we bought it with these. But that bank looks like it might be steep.

Find someone with one of these attachments for an excavator. I do that on the side and something like that would only take a few hours. It’s good for pond dams , ditch banks, and limbs in the air . It will reach 12 feet.

You likely won’t find a rental company that will rent an excavator with a brush cutter or mulcher.
