My yard is loaded with some dead grass, pink flowers and other weeds. I usually cut often when appropriate, but for some reason, this winter I’ve got a bunch of weeds. Where do I even begin? New Orleans area.

I can give you some Celsius if you decide to spray it.

Pictures and goals for your lawn would help.

I think it'll be too cold for any chems but I would start by mowing it low with a bagger to grab all weeds. Over seed in the spring and use a starter fert.

You can go down a crazy rabbits hole but next fall or early winter you can put down preem and not have to worry about winter weeds.

1st step is to decided if have a dominate grass you want to keep or want to go scorched earth and do a full resod. There is entire websites dedicated to growing grass.

The options are endless but if you want an ok lawn just mow more often during growing season and don't let it get over grown.

If it's St. Aug there's no seed for it. OP needs pics. This has been a particularly cold winter for South LA. Good chance whatever OP wants to grow should be able to do easier than in the past. Lots of winter weeds might get wrecked by these multiple blasts.

I have pics but not sure how to post them.

My goal is to have a nice looking yard. Don’t need yard of the month, but tired of looking at weeds. Tried weed and feed in the past, but weeds have come on strong lately.

Make an Imgur account, upload there, and link them with the web address for each photo and use the "img" button on the side while highlighting each web address in this message box. You need to do it for each photo.

If that's too much, upload the whole set to Imgur and copy the link you get after uploading and one of us can do it for you.

You'll find a lot more advice on specific weeds and lawn care here. Weed and Feed is very generic and doesn't really attack the weeds. Water soluble weed killers are better when used correctly and cost a bit more but will hit a much better range of weeds for most grass types. Just depends on how much you're willing to spend, and some weeds either need to be pulled or sprayed with very expensive stuff to ensure you knock them out.

Henbit, chickweed, and dallisgrass. I don't see a lot of real turf but that could be because the henbit is covering it up. I'd start by either doing the winter weed cocktail or applying Trimec.

Probably a dumb question, but since I'm converting to bermuda I'm still learning. Can I use the cleggs cocktail on bermuda? For some reason, I thought one of the ingredients would kill it. I have some winter weeds pretty active right now and I want to at least knock down what I can before I host my son's bday party. Don't need people judging me on my yard

As long as it is dormant it is fine. You don't want to spray Atrazine of bermuda when it starts greening up.
