Would you be interested in a used machine? I have one that I need to sell that has had all scheduled maintenance done and is in excellent condition. If I treated post your email for more details. Located in southeast Louisiana

This one is a gravely that my uncle has and he is ill so his wife asked me to sell it since it doesn’t get used. Not even sure what to ask for it I was gonna go to the place that sold it to him and does the maintenance to get there opinion on value.

My brother has business cutting grass. He's the one that ranked the motors.
the issue with kohlers is they are a pain in the arse to work on, and they use plastic gears for the cam. so when something fails in the engine, it grenades the whole engine inside, with briggs its all metal so you take it apart, replace the bad part, and its fixed.
i look at it from the perspective of repairing the engines
i would rate them
1 - kawasaki
2 - honda
3- B&S

Not sure where you live.
People from across the southeast go to get the bundle deals. He has many, many bundle deals. But also, he sells the Gravely, Husqvarna, Ariens individual Zero Turns.
Ask for Nick

Scag Cheetah is awesome. Big engines on their mowers. I currently have a Toro z-master 54” with Kawasaki engine. Got rid of a Gravely 60”. I have 3 acres. Usually cut twice a week. It’s 8 years old and not an issue to-date. Really wanted the cheetah but are very pricey. A Kawasaki engine, ZT hydro axle, welded deck, and comfortable seating. No matter what they beat you to death! Having at least a 5 gal fuel tank is nice as well.

The Tiger Cat is a heavy duty commercial. You don't need that.
A Scag Patriot is about the model you need.
That is the price point of the Grasshopper 125V 52" I got. If $8000 is too high, which it was for me, start shopping used ones. You can find some deals. I wanted the ruggedness and entry level commercial. I was tired of working on junk, I take good care of my stuff and wanted it to last many years.
So the models I was considering were
Bad Boy Maverick, Gravley ZT-HD, Grasshopper 125V, Scag Patriot, Spartan, and Hustler (don't remember the model).
Best deal is probably the Bad Boy. It might take some time but search for used ones that you want. You can find the occasional low hour for a decent deal.

You can find a used Bad Boy ZT Elite in like new condition for around 4000-4500. Agree with above poster, Bad Boy seems like a great value for the price. Deck thickness, engine options, serviceable hydrogear transaxles, etc - obviously depending on model. It’s been a minute since I’ve researched, but Bad Boy stood out at the time as long as you have a dealer/service nearby.

Kawasaki motor is definitely the way to go, with Briggs coming in behind Kohler.
I have a kawasaki and a a briggs. Kohler doesn't belong in the same conversation with either. The amount of times it hasn't started in my neighbor's gravely is more than double my own.
Buying a new one in the spring to replace a 14 year old scag and a 12 year old bad boy.
I'll be buying another bad boy, with a briggs, 60in, solid front tires, suspension seat.

My cub has had less spindle repairs because they are greasable. Otherwise, it has had the exact same amount of little things break. Not worth the bump in price. It was double the price.
