Has anyone gone the path of these new electric push mowers?

The lawn service at my weekend place sometimes doesn’t cut parts as short as I would like. But as infrequently as I would use it I know a gas push mower that would just sit in the garage is a bad idea and a waste. I’ve got lithium tools with over five-year-old batteries that still work great. So I’m curious about these new 60 V push mowers for just under $400

I have a big yard, so no . First week in my house last year, I got about 3 rows with the push mower before I went and bought a riding one.

I did. I paid under just under $500 for a 40v Ryobi
Mower, weedeater, and blower. With 2 chargers and 2 batteries. The power is more than enough and we have a pretty small yard. I suggest saving money over the e-go brand. Ryobi is legit on a budget.

Do NOT listen to the anti battery crowd. They work great. Size of yard is only thing to consider. Extra batteries for 40v are only about $69 and give you a solid 45 min to an hr each charge.

Ryobi stuff. The blower attachment isn't pictured but it changes out from weedeater.

My neighbor has I THINK Ryobi brand mower and weed eater. It's green and I have never had a reason to go near him when he is mowing his lawn so that is why I think it's Ryobi.

He has an average sized lawn and it gets the job done. He has had it for about 2 years now.

FYI, the mower is insanely quiet.

Yep. The blower is only thing that makes a bit of noise. It is very powerful though. Almost as strong as my old fancy gas one I lost in a divorce.

Can't praise this equipment enough. I was a big skeptic myself.

Husqvarna has one of those electric/autonomous mowers, like a Roomba but for your yard. Saw one working the High School yard the other day, it's really cool.

I have the mower and weed eater. I have a quarter acre lot, and the battery life for my equipment is just fine if the grass is a reasonable height. The first time I cut it the yard was overgrown, and the battery died about 85% of the way through the cut. I think they advertise that the charge will last for a half acre lot, but the grass would have to be short and dry and you’d have to quickly cut it.

My weed eater cuts the lot no problem with at least half a charge remaining (so in theory I could weed eat twice on one charge). The mower is really only good for one cut before it needs another charge.

In terms of the cut quality, it’s great. Ryobi makes great products in my experience. The mower is also ridiculously quiet. You can cut your grass at 6am on a Saturday and no one would be the wiser

How is it more cost effective to buy an electric mower that will sit unused vs a gas mower that will sit unused?

Maintenance and upkeep is probably higher, with the gas needing more TLC from long dormant periods.

Yesterday I was finally able to cut my back yard after 3 weeks..First week and half no rain equals no grow...Second week and half all rain plus not having the time.
It was a bitch my gas lawnmower must have killed 9 times. What normally takes about 45 minutes (complete mow, weed eat and blow) took me about an hour and half to finish. My point is with the battery ones, I would think, in this situation you would be screwed with battery drained.

I bought a kobalt 80v from Lowe’s in 2016. Been using it ever since for my lot in a cul de sac. Doesn’t bog down and kill like a gas mower but thick/wet grass drains the battery much faster.

After thousands of times pulling cords on mowers and weed eaters and getting pissed off, ready to throw the damn things when they won’t start - I went electric. Love it.

I’ve got a lawn service for this. It’s just when I show up sometimes on a summer weekend and I look at it and I think I would like it shorter I would like something to grab and just give it a nice neat buzz. Probably take me all of 10 minutes to do everything I want
