I have an 8'x12' Tuffshed in my yard that I've outgrown. It's 4 years old and in great condition. I'm thinking of either adding on to it or selling it and building something bigger. How hard is it to sell these things? Would I be able to get enough for it to make it worth it?

It's got a pretty low roof and I can't think a good way to add on to it and still have a good bit of vertical storage.

It’ll be hard to sell unless you can help with delivery. If not, I feel you’ll really have to come down below a fair asking price. Just my opinion, though.

Haven't given it much thought yet. It'll probably be another year before I'm ready to sell it.

Contact the local dealer and let them know you have one to sell. Offer them a percentage. Plus they have the equipment to move it.

Baton Rouge tuff shed dealer doesn't move existing tuff sheds. They don't have any equipment.

OP, if you need a way to move it in the BR area, I've got contact info for a guy that moved mine.

Doesn’t help you going vertical but I had one that came with my last house that I just built a lean to off of. Added another 12 ft out x the 16 ft length. Worked fine for plenty extra storage.

How high were you able to build it? Mine is really low. I think the peak is around 8'. Edges are around 6'.

I'm in the market for one of this size and live in Metairie. If you figure out how much you want for it, let me know. I agree with others that the logistics of moving this will be the biggest issue with both selling it and the price you're asking for it but i'd still be interested depending on location and cost.

I'd would think you'd be able to jack it up and back a trailer on to it pretty easily. I doubt it weighs more than 1000 lbs. IDK about driving it all the way to Metarie, though. I'm in West Fel Parish.

ETA: gosh dang, just looked up what I paid for it. $2406.81 with tax in 2020. New today with tax would be a hair under $4,000.

home depot link

Any ideas on how I'd add on to this think and not have a super low ceiling? It's built about as solid as it could be. Studs on 16" centers. I'd probably have to rip the roof off to make it worth it.

My wife and I are planning on having a kid soon so I'll no longer have a room in the house just for my hunting stuff. I'd like to build something and insulate/climate control it but I'd be ok with adding on and insulating the addition.

Because you listed those prices, i'd guess i have an idea of how much you want and for that reason....I'm out. I was hoping to snag this pretty cheap because i plan on building one which would cost around 1200-1400 in materials and if i can buy one in that range, i avoid the building part.

I don't blame ya. I just drew up a 12x24 in cad and am seeing what the materials would cost, it kind of made me want to just try and add on to the sucker.

in that case here is the straight scoop

its only worth it has, is the raw materials only.

and the only way to get rid of it is

to have a buyer, who wants to come take it apart, haul it home, put it back together,
and then want to pay you anything at all for it, is marginally small.

im not saying dont try to sell it, but if you get nothing for it, its still worth it to get it out of your way.

reach out to any prefab shed vendors. Derksen is another. Try some in the outskirts of town that might have the equipment. i know specifically the guy in vacherie that sells derksen buildings also moves them.

There used to be a guy from Denham Springs that would go anywhere in south Louisiana and move sheds. I forgot his company name, try Google.

Easily loaded on a car hauler and moved if there is access.
Why not build a basement under it?

I used them on my TuffShed. Good guy and they moved mine fairly easy and without a scratch on it

I attached a 2x6 lengthwise along the roof about midway up. Ran rafters down to the new wall. Mine may have been a little taller because at the low side mine was about 7’ and high side at the shed about 8’. I’m 6 ft and it was plenty high enough for me to function inside it.

something like this??

I think the pitch of roof is around 2:12. I think to get something high enough I'd have to go all the way to the peak. I'm waiting for IT to renew my cad license so I can draw it up
