Anyone have any idea what this stuff may be?

It's only in parts of my back yard in a very shady area or the north side of a HUGE live oak tree; actually doesn't look too bad and filled in the areas where the St. Augustine had trouble growing.

The grass blades look sort of like St. Aug, but much glossier and softer. You can also see near the bottom of the photo that it gets some kind of little seed head/flower on it, but with weekly mowing never seems to get tall enough to make any stalks.

I’m not sure but I’d rule out Purple Kush.

Looks like doveweed. Does it have small purple/bluish flowers?

Well shite... now that I have a name for what covers most of the gf's backyard, it's pretty easy to see that is the likely cause of his paw related dermatitis. Last couple weeks it became a noticeable issue and I had been blaming it on a switch in foods. Nothing beats being wrong and having to take a drastic measurement to eliminate almost all backyard foliage. I regret every hour wasted fixing broken lines and replacing sprinkler heads. Bare batches were more correctable than this.

Should I just nuke it all, and when, and with what? Probably will reseed with an Argentine bahia, since it's a rental. Albeit a multi year long term one. Really shite soil in fl, super sandy.

Huh?

I believe Atrazine and Celsius kills it. Atrazine is a lot cheaper than Celsius.
