If you have St Aug or Centipede you can use Tenacity. It is really effective at controlling it. Put down prodiamine in the spring. Also, are you 100% sure it is goosegrass and not dallisgrass, crabgrass, barnyard grass or johnson grass?

I'm not sure now. I looked online and thought I had Goose grass. It looks like a wagon wheel. I'll try to post a picture.

This is what it looks like.

That's crabgrass. Goose grass is a little bushier. Try Quinclorac

I successfully used some Hi-yield grass killer with Sethoxydim against goose grass in centipede earlier this year. Have some more popping back up in a spot on other side of yard but I pulled it up for now.

Yep. I was wrong. I have this also and some other crap. I made a small cup of round up and with a glove and paper towel wiped them with roundup.

Definitely goose grass. Pre-emergent herbicides will effectively relieve you of this problem if applied next spring as ronk recommended.

Goose grass seeds germinate at warmer soiltemperatures than crabgrass, April/May (BR) if recall, so it appears later in the year. Literature says it is more prominent in compacted soils, and the areas goosegrass were present in my lawn were definitely compacted areas. I might see 2 or 3 plants a year now since I started using pre-emergents - I just remove those by hand.

Type of grass is important here.

People recommending quinclorac and vantage could be leading you to disaster without knowing what type of lawn you have.

spray Barricade in the spring. For year long control follow up with another spraying after 90 days..

i.e. Feb 15th and May 15th

Do not use quinchlorac. You'd kill your grass if you did. As far as pre ems I always prefer liquid.

Stop suggesting things that will kill his grass please. Read through the thread. He has St Aug. Quincorac kills St Aug.

Prodiamine 65 WDG is what I’m using now.
LINK.

At that price, and using an application rate of 0.4 oz (1 1/2 tbsp) per 1000 sq ft, it will cost about $0.35/1000 sq ft. In contrast granular prodiamine, would be in the $2.00 per 1,000 sq ft range.

For St Aug I like Simazine in the fall and prodiamine in the spring.
