Can I run my generator in my garage? Say my elec goes out tomorrow night, and the only dry place to run the generator is in the garage - is this unequivocal "no-no"?

Sit it as close to the door as possible. Muffler/exaust pointing out. Do not close the garage door. If you start to smell it in the house...might wanna reconsider.

Don't do it. It'll run fine in the rain

It would be partly cover by the roof, but the whipping rain will get to it

simply get some plywood and make a quick 2 sided box to cover it and that is all you need to do for it

most have a full cage around them where you can just lay plywood tied on top of it

I wouldn't run it in the garage.
Like others, I've run mine outside in the rain near the house without problems.
Also, gases like carbon monoxide are odorless.

Family friends of ours ran their generator in their garage with the door cracked. They nearly died from CO poisoning. One of them was barely coherent enough to call 911. Tapes are just him slurring words with a barely audible “help”.

I put mine in the garage at the entrance under the eaves with exhaust facing out. Then I have fairly powerful fan blowing the exhaust out.Have it blowing on the actual generator side.Feel like helping to keep it cool might be good for it,not really sure about that,
I didn’t know you could run it in the rain.

Is the garage detached? If so, yes. If not no.

No! That’s a good way to wake up dead!

Not a good idea. Get a CO monitor for your house if you plan to run it close to living areas.
