Anyone else like them some garlic?

I still have some early Italian purple from this year's spring harvest. I can say that i tried overwintering them the year before and didn't do well. Planted them in early spring this year and almost every clove made.

I am wanting to plant some this year for the first time.

Do grocery store bags work or do I need to order from seed company?

I cook every night and use garlic 90% of the time.

You certainly can plant grocery store bulbs. Seperate. Put the flat part down (the base) about 2-3”. I put a cover of pine straw over.

Just planted some last month. First time trying to grow my own garlic, so I'm interested to see how it turns out.

Planted a total of 100 cloves of Red Creole, Blanco Piacenza, Lorz Italian and Thermadrone here in Tampa last week. Vernalized them for 4-6 weeks beforehand. First time planting garlic since working my parents garden as a kid; let’s see how it goes.

I planted several varieties but have been disappointed with the number that have started growing. I ordered more and are starting them in a couple window seal planters when they start growing.

My parents swore by vernalizing them in the fridge for 4-6 weeks even with the soft neck varieties. If they had the opportunity they would let them go 8-12 weeks. Many argue the soft necks don’t need it. Garlic is also a nitrogen hog. We hit them with 20-20-20 on a monthly basis.

10 days since planting. The Lorz and Blanco have sprouted already. Some with 3-4” of exposed top growth already.

Planted about 100 a few weeks ago after vernalizing in the beer fridge. Next to a row of leeks that come back every year. About 8" of green growth on them.

I'm really perplexed about wishing for a hard freeze to take out new growth in my garden.

I haven’t thought about. I love the scapes in my meatloaf and casseroles. I will try it.
