Garage door having some issues. Might just need maintenance or possibly replace. Who do you recommend in the Baton Rouge area?

Mention specific issues and maybe us old farts who fix things can offer a DIY scenario.

about the only thing most DIYers shouldn't work on is the torsion spring. (at least I'M not going there)

new board
new capacitor
new sensors.
new switch. all pretty easy swap outs.

Door makes a loud racket when first opening then it’s fine. Sometimes only opens a foot or so then stops. If you put it down and reopen it will go all the way up this has happened sporadically at first and now more frequently. The torsion springs have been replaced within the last 2 years.

Check the springs to make sure they haven't lost tension.

Check the cable to see if it's gotten kinked or out of whack or something.

Check to make sure all your rollers are in good shape.

Have you been lubricating it?

There may be enough friction that it's causing the anti-kid killer mechanism to stop the door from moving.

+1. This is the most common that I've seen. I installed my own garage door springs so am comfortable using the torquing bars but the spring can stretch out over time. Usually just one extra 1/4 turn is enough to make it continue and not stop when opening.

Be careful around springs. When those bitches break you don't want to be near them.
