So we have been having an issue with our chamberlain garage door opener. It will open fine, but sometimes (it does not happen everytime, extremely intermittent) when it is closing it will just stop. It does not reverse, it simply stops and the lights flash once. If you hit the button again it continues closing. It happens are different heights, and sometimes it happens multiple times during the closing cycle, so you will have to hit the button 3-4 times to get it all the way down.

Everything I search online only shows results for if it stops and reverses, but as I said, mine just stops.

if it senses resistance it stops thinking something is blocking it

check the wheels and tracks and everything that moves to see where its binding

if everything looks good it may just be the motor is getting weak and its time for a new one

Ok, I thought it would reverse if that was the case but maybe I'm wrong.

I know it will reverse if the sensors are off or thinks something got in its way. Not sure if it would reverse based on resistance.

one of ours was recently doing that, but when going up. I could see the joint in the tracks it was kind of getting hung up on. I sprayed the tracks and wheels real good with some silicone garage door spray stuff and it hasn't happened since.

one of my neighbors has same issue. A a certain time of the day the sun light was directly on that light sensor. He rigged up something using the core of a toilet paper roll

So according to the Chamberlain website it is supposed to reverse if the resistance sensor or the laser sensor are activated. Since it isn't reversing I don't believe it is that. I'll try greasing the tracks and rollers and see if that helps

I had a garage door that behaved like that. It was the kind with programmable upper and lower limits, not the kind with mechanical switches. I had to reprogram the lower limit.

Had a similar issue and kept thinking the limits were jacked up.

Turned out the capacitor was bad. Got worse over a few weeks.

I just had to have a panel replaced. Just wanted to say the company recommended that everything be lubed up every 6 months. They had some fancy stuff they used but they said WD-40 works just as well.
