Anyone know of a fix for this? Could it be the ice maker? Thanks.

What size extension cords? 15 or 20 amp fridge?

extension cord most likely reversed the power wires causing the gfi to trip.

gfi has to be wired a certain way only or it will constantly trip.

just get a 12 gauge extension cord to run the fridge off of the generator

The extension cord is 14 gauge and 15 amp. These are the specs on the fridge. Volt/Amps115V / 60Hz / 5.0A

Does it trip when compressor kicks on or as soon as you plug it in?

Not right away. When the compressor comes on.

How long is this extension cord?

It’s my understanding that fridges and GFCI’s don’t mix because the compressor constantly trips the GFCI - it’s not just a generator problem.

Does your generator have a 30 amp output? If so, use that.

ETA: Here’s a link with an explanation and some things to try: LINK

It does. Will a 240 volt extension cord mess up my fridge?

I’ll defer to someone more knowledgeable, but I use a 30A to 15A adapter like this and it works fine: LINK

Might just be overloading the GFI, try an outlet without GFI and see if it stays on. If so change out gfi.

none of that matters as far as what im talking about

gfi is wired with a black and a white in one set order. if you connect an extension cord to it the white and black wires reverse through the plug ins

i had that same trouble running power to the breaker box from the temp power pole service. its not tripping from power draw its tripping because the ground circuit is sensing a ground on the wrong side of the plug thinking its a short

Fridges don't do well on GFCI because they can make it think their is a short when it's just the low resistance of the compressor.

I don’t now if this wil help but I stumbled across this when looking for some other info to trouble a generator issue.

Technical service bulletin how to fix a generator when the refrigerator trips the gfci circuit on models of Westinghouse portable generators. LINK
