Floor Plan Customization

This might depend entirely on the builder, but is it possible an entire room could be removed from a floor plan? There is a pre-made floor plan for a house that I would like to have built, but it is a bit out of my price range. There is a game room in this floor plan that is 21x15 and the price per sq foot for the home is $117. Taking this room out entirely would reduce the cost by $37,000 and make it much closer to my budget.

That's not how that works
A large open room costs very little

Haha I am very new to this clearly! So I guess it would just be a fraction of the savings I was hoping for then?

Going to depend on the builder, and location of the game room. If it’s a custom builder, they can probably handle it. If the game room is on the second story, it makes things a lot easier.
If it’s a production builder or spec home builder, unlikely they are willing to do that. If it’s on the main floor, also unlikely because foundations and roof lines will be altered, and you’re asking for trouble without having an accurate set of plans.
The price change by cutting out that room is likely pretty close though.

The game room is on the far corner of the house and pretty much sticks out all by itself. It would not leave any awkward open space or anything. I’m kind of stuck on this floor plan because it allows for a detached garage with breezeway.

You can certainly bring that floor plan to someone who does that and have them redraw it, it might be required based on where you’re building.
Hard to give much more advice based on the information given so far. Just saying redlining the foundation and roof could potentially cost you more than any savings you’d have by not having correct drawings on the job site.

Depending on where you live your going to have to have a real set of plans to get your building permit. There is a foundation drawing also that my or may not be included in a set off the internet.
Also the price per sq ft is an average of all of the materials and fixtures for the house. So while you save some money for sure that room probably isn’t incredibly expensive. Most of your cost is in the bathrooms and kitchens. It also depends on ceiling height, roof lines above it etc. I would ask around your area for a draftsman and see if you can find someone that will take the plan you have and redraw it.

This is true on materials, but a lot of subs just charge/bid X/sqft + extra, and at least around here $117/sqft average is pretty damn low for new construction.
