Anybody paint the exterior of their home theirself? It’s an ugly cream yellow color. Definitely needs painting but hoping it can be a weekend job that isn’t too difficult without hiring it out.
I had the same thing when i bought my house. I went to Sherwin Williams and bought Loxon XP and used an airless sprayer i got from my parents. Took me 2 days between taping up windows and spraying the house. Pretty easy but time consuming. It made my house look 60 years newer immediately.

Is it terrazo? That would make sense on a house this old.

Paint can not be understated. Fresh paint on walls and especially the trim can make a home look brand new even with older fixtures and floors.

Terrazo is back in style. May need to be polished if from 1960. Great for kitchens and hallways. Floor stays cool in summertime. Only downside if you have small children is that it is basically pretty cement. Does not forgive if you fall on it.
Considered "mid century modern" now.

Yup it’s terrazo, couldn’t remember the word.

Going back in on Friday, gonna take some pics. Might keep it a running thread for updates.

Great floor if kept up but gets real dingy looking if not. But once clean and all those different colors pop, you'll probably really like it.

Do built ins in the master closet. They have kits you can buy.

Some decent wood, Kregg pocket screw jig, custom built-ins that look better at a fraction of the cost.

People still use that atrocious stuff? Ditch the dated look for a modern shoe mold. Also, new taller baseboards and wider door/window trim make a huge difference, assuming the 3.5” standard contractor garbage.

Best purchase was a Graco paint sprayer. My painting is 90% prep and 10% work and the results are great. Used on walls, doors, molding, closet built-ins, furniture, cabinetry. Frog tape instead of that blue trash.

Crown is basically 15’ pieces of Satan sold in bare wood or primed white. frick crown. Carrying it, sanding it, painting it, measuring it, cutting it, hanging it, caulking it, it all sucks.

Fails: tub refinishing kits and painting tile.

Did you buy a kit? If so, any recommendations? Looking to do this.

A few years back we bought our first house. We're still doing renovations, but the things that made the largest visual impact inside were hardware, trim and doors. We painted all interior doors, trim, baseboards, and crown molding white (several coats), replaced cabinet pulls and handles, and replaced all the door hardware.

Fortunately last year I finished a total bathroom refurb....and the only thing i didn't change was a 20 year old whirlpool jetted tub. It works fine, has few hours on it since we mostly shower.

Everything in the refurb was white, mirror and satin nickel finishes...the tub however is/was a cream/beige color. Rather than change out the tub, surround, sheet rock around the surround and floor where a new tub wouldn't cover we chose to waste 200 bucks on an epoxy refinish kit (actually 3 of them rustoleum brand). We painted the tub, surround, and jet heads etc. Waited about 7 days between coats and eventually applied 3 kits/coats. Looks really great and came out significantly better than expected....no drips, runs or flaking. if/when it starts to fail we'll replace, but until then it totally blends in with the rest of the remodel.

Yeah, we only have one bathroom in this shanty. Sent wife to her moms for a long weekend but obviously put it back into use too quickly. Plan to redo it with more time once we finish building. It’ll just look like shite until then. Tub was white but tile is bright pink.

This. Do have testing of it and paint for lead before buying a house that was built before 1975 and older. If not and both are found, that could add a 10K+ cost to the house.

I wouldn't necessarily say easy, but always kitchen and bathroom improvement is the best money spent.

Lot of good responses, thanks guys.

I’m getting frustrated, so is the home owner. He has a renter (who is also his friend) in the house right now. And the renter is getting very pissy about him selling and basically said he wasn’t letting us in today.
He doesn’t want it to get ugly and I’m hoping he doesn’t go back on wanting to sell because of the jackass living there.
