Where’s your lot? Is that fill needed because of Ida damage? Or you just low

Might check before you fill, the Corps might have a say so on if you can or can’t do it and what exactly to fill with if that’s the case.

Haven't yet just wanted an idea of cost then I will go to town and Corps. Its technically a lot in a subdivision, with blacktop, and utilities...Cant imagine they can stop you over mitigation but could make it financially not worth the cost.

No need to speak to the Corps to fill your lot. Call Milo @ 504.329.9077. I believe his son is taking over the business. They’ve done quite a bit of work for us over the years

As with any contractor on Grand Isle, be patient and persistent.

Spread fill, limestone and has poured quite a bit of concrete. We're phasing out limestone on our property, it just sinks into the ground and you're constantly dealing with weeds. It's a real pain to deal with.

This is terrible advice and can get you in a lot of trouble.

You need to go to TOGI and speak with Nora's replacement. See if the town will require a wetlands determination from the ACE.

If no determination is needed, you'll need a permit. If a determination is required, you'll need to get one done. You can either hire it out to a private company or the ACE can do it for free. I've done it both ways down there and either way you're going to be waiting for their determination.

Before purchasing a lot on GI, you should know if a determination is required before they will issue permits. If you get tagged with wetlands, it can be costly and time consuming. The fact that you're wanting to bring in fill is probably telling as to what the determination would be.

It doesn't matter to the ACE if it's a subdivision with a blacktop road or not. They don't use logic or reason in their determinations.

They should be excited for anyone wanting to bring fill on the island. As high as people want to build up, they should allow it. They spent hundreds of millions building up Grande Terre next door, but will declare a 5' drainage ditch on the back of your property wetlands. It doesn't make any sense.

Milo is great, would recommend.

ETA: Plum is wet as hell. I think there is a good chance you're going to have issues with the ACE. Another poster on here has a lot on Cherry, the road goes under quite a bit.

Thanks for the info and taking the time with a serious and accurate response. I knew the ace is a pita in some cases and logic is scarce.

You rang baw? Tides are a mutha on those 3 roads but if built up high enough, you should not have issues. Just like DSD said, make damn sure you check with TOGI before doing anything. Id also recommend E&L out of Galliano. He just dumped another 120 tons of rock on my lot and I have no complaints.

What does it being subdivided have to do with whether it is a wetland or not? I guess I’ve assumed in 2024 any undeveloped land on GI has some encumbrance.
