Experience with a pool leak?

Pool guy called me today and told me he’s been having issues keeping the chemicals in check and thinks the filler valve is putting too much fresh water in the pool. Did the bucket test last night and woke up this morning about 3/4” lower after about 16 hours. Anyone had any luck hunting down a leak? Or any other tests to figure out where it is?

Man I spent months trying to troubleshoot mine. I had pvc pipes strung across the yards, level measurement, plotting things in excel. ALD came out and just nailed it lol.
But another time I called them, they couldn’t find it to save their lives. I think it depends on the quality of the technician

Hopefully i get a good one. I have a call in to them. At least now i know why my water bill was $500 last month.
I just hope its an easy pipe fix and I don't have to tear up the deck. I think i'll probably go ahead and put the heat pump at the same time.

$3000 is not bad at a all. You around Baton Rouge by chance? Ive got to do some work on my deck. The neighbors cypress knees are killing me.
Also, after dealing with pool leaks for years, I wish there was an option for running the pipe in concrete duct bank or something like that. Where all you had to do was lift a slab of deck off to access the pipe.

Mind sharing who it was that you used for that repair?

I was in a rental house for about three years. Waiting for my new home to be built. They had a pool there that was about 20 years old. We had two different leaks there over that period. The guys came out with a sonar equipment and dropped a transducer down near any place, where a spout or drain was, and easily found the leaks. They basically just listen for it through a headphones
Both times we had leaks. It was where a jet comes through the wall. Those guys told me that it's about 95% of the pool leaks.

Damn.
They did a hell of a job matching the new concrete to the old. Good contractor work for sure.

Turn everything off and let it all settle down. Get some dark food coloring and a syringe. Check every single penetration.
Especially the seems between the skimmers and pool.
Mine ended up being the filler itself.
