Took me over 3 months and lots of failures that I had to fix. Finally came together. It’s not perfect but I think it came out great.

Very nice! What were some of the challenges you’ve faced? I’ve always wanted to do one

When I poured the epoxy I poured it in two layers since it gets hot. The first layer was fine. The second wasn’t measured exactly because the epoxy didn’t harden and was still tacky a week later so I had to remove it and repour. That took forever. Then when sanding the epoxy I noticed imperfection and bubbles that I had to sand the out. That took a while and burned up an orbital sander and had to get another. It’s just labor intensive but can be done.

Mappa Burl from Serbia. I found it at Riverside lumber in Nola. Rusty carries some very nice slabs of exotics and tons of sinker

Man that looks awesome. Would love to hear some pointers. I watched this video a few times and my wife and I are going to take on this project. I have never done anything like that and am a little apprehensive. I'm fairly crafty and work with two-part epoxy every day at my job. But it's on a much smaller scale.

Can never go wrong with mapa burl. Has such gorgeous spalting. Used Total Boat?

yeah it would. I've seen a few guitars online made with burl. Beautiful stuff.
