Anybody have any experience with an electric riding lawn mower? I'm considering 60 volt 42" deck to cut about 0.6 acre lot. Would appreciate any feedback.

have you researched the battery life on one of these? Also, the battery replacement cost?

I've read customer reviews and most have been positive. I haven't seen mention of the overall life of the battery but that's a good question to ask.

Looks like a replacement battery is $129.99

Actually seeing that people are complaining that the batteries only last a year or so and then don't take a charge. Might not be worth it. Seems to be hit or miss.

Greenworks initially but EGO looks to be a better product also more expensive. Need to look into the Ryobi as well but just trying to see if anyone on here has one and pros and cons.

I have a buddy who has the 30in ryobi riding mower. I think it’s pretty nice. Does a good job cutting and seems well built.

There's not much on a gas engine that someone can't do at home regarding basic maintenance and it's not expensive. If you have to get a new battery every few years I'm not thinking it's cheaper than repairs on a gas engine.

Seems low. You likely need 6 batteries at 8ah each if it is the mower I’m thinking of.

Not having to use my time to do engines repairs, and maintenance is worth a lot, plus I have spent around $150 just on gas for my riding mower so far this year,. The cost to charge and periodically replace the battery will probably be less than the yearly fuel cost for a average gas powered riding mower.

I'm cutting 3 acres and haven't spent that much yet...guess every where is different.

The OP said a new battery was $129...he forgot to mention that the mower he was talking about uses 6 batteries at once to get 60 minutes of run-time.

Almost none of the electric mowers I've looked at would cut what I cut on a single charge. A quick internet search doesn't find me a 60 inch cut electric mower for under $12,500.00 and the battery for that one is $1500.

I have nothing against electric riders but cost of gas engine repairs is not that big of an issue.

The costs to run a gasoline engine depends on who is occupying the white house. If Creepy Joe and his demwit Democrats have their way, gas prices will continue to rise to astronomical levels!
You see, their plan is to force folks to compare the two options and settle for battery powered shite, thus eliminating gas burning engines.

My Ryobi zero turn ran me $2700 after taxes. Batteries expected to last 3-5 years. Replacement for all 4 batteries is gonna run between $900-$1000.

The expense is basically the same as a gas-powered mower over a 3-5 year period except you’re paying the expense upfront. But, never have to buy gas. Never have to change spark plugs, oil, filters, etc. Literally zero maintenance. I mow weekly 3 acres and all I do is use a leaf blower on it to blow out debris and occasionally wipe it down with a rag. Plug it in and done.

Highly recommend especially since Brandon has $5 gasoline.

How much gas will you consume "every few years"?

That's what I said...gas usage wasn't part of that statement.

As was mentioned in the post above yours...cost of gas versus cost of batteries over a 3-5 year span are probably going to be about equal. He said new batteries would cost him $900-1000...quick calculations based on 5 years I would spend about $1200 in gas in that time (by local current prices).

I would have to buy some extra batteries to get mine all cut without stopping to recharge, also adding to costs.

Electric works for some...that's fine...but it's not the answer for everyone.
