Every time my GF touches the dryer and it shuts down my office breaker.

When computer is off, there aren't issues.

Chalking this up to some bad wiring? Obviously the Dryer is on a separate breaker so a little confused why it would trip the office one across my house.

that sounds like they are sharing the same breaker then

definitely doesnt sound like your wiring is correct so take the cover off of your breaker panel and just confirm there are no extra wires connected to that drier breaker

i sense you need to call and electrician because something isnt right and you sure dont want to wait until you have a fire

The dryer shouldn’t be sharing with anything else. You’ve got a bad wiring job. The dryer should be on its own 220. The office should be on its own circuit.

If you can watch youtube, you can fix this. If it scares you even a little, call a pro.

If it's a natural gas dryer it would be on a 120V branch that could be shared with outlets in adjacent rooms. The drum motor in the dryer has considerable in-rush current requirements, anything pulling power on that branch with it could be enough to trip a breaker.

Simple test..... turn on the computer. Go to the electric panel box and turn off the dryer breaker.

Then check if the computer is still on. If not, the electric outlet for the computer is tied into one of the "legs" that goes to the dryer. FYI.... the dry operates on 220 volts that has two 110 volt legs. One of these connections could have an "extra" wire connected to it.

One house I owned, had an outside electrical outlet that was connected to the stove breaker.

UPDATE---- I reread your post about the computer "causing" the problem. I still think this outlet is connected to the dryer breaker. But, it sounds like there could be a problem with the outlet the computer is plugged into.

Suggest you turn on the computer then turn off the dryer breaker. If this turns off the computer, then this outlet is Off. Take the cover off this outlet and see if there is any sign of damage or loose wire. I would probably install a new electric plug in.

It's an electric dryer. Aware of the difference between a 110 and 220 from my FFA days but something obviously is fricked up with the connection. These two connection slots aren't even close to one another on the breaker and again, across the house from a wiring standpoint.

Tried turning off the "dryer" breaker and nothing happens with the computer.

The dryer breaker does turn off the dryer if that helps.

Sounds like I need to call a pro.

Is the dryer breaker a 220v breaker?

It doesn’t matter what part of the house things are, electricians routinely throw random outlets on random breakers. Not sure if it’s on purpose, accident or what.

I wouldn’t use that outlet for your computer until you get this solved OP.

Here’s my guess OP, do you have a volt meter?

My guess is that 110 of the 220v is tied to the computer outlet. Likely someone changed some breakers at one time and there were 2 hots that go to the dryer breaker and a third that goes to your computer outlet. Those got switched up and one of your dryer outlets goes to your computer.

Does the computer outlet breaker turn off the dryer?

Go buy an outlet tester. Could have an outlet wired wrong.
