Is this worth exploring? I don’t have any laser measurements or other devices but I can certainly hang a string with a weight ?????.

Trying to save as much as possible on car maintenance however also trying to balance spend on tools to do the job.

Well, considering the cost of new tires ($200+ each), potential front end damage from being out of alignment, etc. I'd say it's best to leave it to a shop to do it right.

It really isn't that expensive to have done

Alignment isn’t really preventative maintenance for most cases. Usually only needed if there’s other damage or you hit something to knock it out. Rotate and balance is regular PM which places will do for free if you buy and install their tires.

An alignment, every few years at minimum, isn’t really worth considering when it comes to DIY PM.

I wouldn't do it for a daily driver for sure. A weekend beater, sure.

Toe isn't hard to get close. Camber and caster is another thing

You can pay for lifetime alignment at Firestone and get it aligned as many times as you want for the life of your vehicle

No…you’ll end up fricking your front end all up and having to bring it to a front end shop anyway. Just go and pay $60 while you sit in an air conditioned waiting area for an hour.

Unless your goal is an out of spec set up that a shop wont do, like for a track car or something, it is not worth the headache.
