Recently moved out to 20 acres and we have 3 dogs, of course they are on tick meds but it don't stop them from bringing them in the house. We've probably had 5 or 10 crawling on us the past week. I put down triazacide but only one bag.

Any better solutions?

i was always told if you have ticks then you have rodents because ticks cant live without animals to suck blood from.

not sure if thats true, but you may want to address the whole area for rodents as well as ticks and the other critters

You CAN spray them with permethrin, FYI vs just using meds

You might try Taurus which is fipronil which is what’s in frontline that you put on your dogs. You also won’t have to worry about termites, ants or roaches.

you aren’t going to control 20 acres of ticks, only temporarily around and inside your house. Your dogs are going to bring them in regardless

all you can do is deal with them as they come. Summertime means ticks. If you want the most effective control around the house get chickens or even better, guineas

Guinea hens will patrol the whole 20 acres looking for ticks.

Some free range guinea plus a GSP is going to make for an interesting combination

At first, maybe. But those dogs are so smart they can quickly learn to ignore them. You couldn’t make my labs harm a chicken. They literally walk all over them when lying down. The rooster slept with them every night.

If possible, do all three, burn, spray then get the birds. Ticks carry all types of nasty diseases, RMSF, Alpha Gal and Lyme just to name a few.

all guineas are free range for the most part...there’s no corralling those things unless you keep them in a cage. If you have enough of them they should last a few years, with the need to supplement the flock every now and then

Guineas are on a mission to eat ticks all day long. You have to make a choice. No ticks or lots of noise.

Bifenthrin or Imidacloprid.

Spray once a week for 3-4 weeks.

Thanks. Gonna try the other stuff on the exterior. Also tried Precore fogger and heard the fleas laughing at me. Has to be something better.
