Chickens and grass fertilizer

Does anyone have any insight on when it is safe for chickens to graze on grass/soil that has been treated by Scott’s Bonus S weed and feed?

You should never use weed & feed.
Now that we got that out of the way, most granules dissolve with a solid 1 hour rainfall. However, some slow release granules, which I think Scott’s uses as the “feed” part, will take 3-6 weeks to fully dissolve.
I personally don’t think it’s worth risking, especially if you eat the eggs.
The studies are done on dogs, which don’t pick the lawn for seeds so I doubt you’d find much info on this for chickens on the internet. For the record, weed & feed is safe for dogs after the lawn has dried after the initial watering.

dont use chemical products on areas where you are growing food or your food is eating. There is no proven safety in those scenarios.

Chickens WILL fertilize the grass as they scratch for things to eat and then crap where they have eaten, because that is what chickens do.

if you raise chickens (or vegetables) for food you should not be applying chemicals to your yard. Keep the chickens out of your grass
as to when it is safe again I’ve no idea.
at least till next year is likely

With chickens the best bet is to leave it and let them graze, in 3 weeks you won't have grass anyway

Thank you! I was thinking the same thing. A chicken will ruin a yard in a hurry. If you care anything for it, then leave the chickens in a run. If you don't care for it, then don't add weed and feed anyway. That chicken shite is going to burn the lawn anyway until it's composted.

Or turn grass into growing turbo mode if watered regularly.

There won't be grass to fertilize. You are severely underestimating what chickens can do to grass.
My run is 30x60 and they took out every plant/grass/anything green in 1 week. They ate a damn full grown yucca plant in a week.
