Chamberlain Garage Door - Belt Missing teeth, won't open

I had the garage door replaced in my townhouse 4-5 years ago, not exactly sure on the timeline. The new Chamberlain garage door opener has a rubber/plastic belt so it's much quieter and has worked fine without issue until this week.
My tenant called me and said the belt appears to be missing teeth and the door is not opening. The company I hired to replace the system (Dial One House of Doors) got acquired and I was not as happy with their service at another rental property. Is this something I can fix myself or should I just call another door repair company? I'm in Metairie.

You can purchase new belts on Amazon or directly through Chamberlain. It is absolutely something you can do yourself. There are plenty of youtube videos out there for help if you need it.

Those belts are not difficult to replace I don't think. They're really easy to install. The only difficult part could be if you have to release the springs.
Check youtube, I would recommend a professional if you have to frick with the spring to change it.

My question is why did the teeth break? It’s usually due to excess resistance because of a broken spring.

Not sure at this point, will have to see this weekend. It seemed to work fine recently but I'll check the springs.

Sounds like the spring is broken and the belt only is trying to pull the door open.
Replacing the spring is not a DIY, find a professional.

Serious injury even death can occur. Sounds like this is the issue. Pay a pro to do it.

A friend and I replaced a spring once. We had no clue what we were getting into. It was terrifying

Thanks all, I don't mess with springs so it'll be be a pro most likely.
Anyone have experience with Sears Home Services or Amazon installation contractors? If it's cheaper to replace than repair, Amazon will sell a new opener and install it for less than $300. It's an 8 foot door, 2 cars wide.

I replaced a spring 2 years ago and a chamberlain opener that is belt driven yesterday. It took about an hour to watch the video and swap out the opener, chain and rail. Its not that difficult. I wish I had replaced that noisy thing earlier!
It looks fairly easy according to this video
