How many hours of full sun do you get per day in the area you’re seeding? I ask because bermuda grass requires “full sun”(I think 6-8 hours per day). It won’t persist in shade.

This thread needs updates. I can only go so long without seeing bermuda stolons doing their thing.

I got you bro.

I put about 20 Celebration plugs in an area of my yard that was compacted dirt not too far from an oak tree. Was just curious to see what it'd do. Gets about 6 hours of sunlight per day. It's spread to about 10'x10' since last May and is still spreading quickly. Pretty dense, too. There is some common not far from it that stays stringy and doesn't really spread horizontally.

Very similar situation here. Quite compacted. Parked on this area off and on for four years.

Using Air 8, RGS, and 20.5-0-0

Update:

What’s the best course of action now? Mow low, fertilize? Buy another bag of seed and overseer again?

Hey, that plugs is a good suggestion. The area underneath my oak tree is pretty well compacted and I’ve been wondering what might work to get some Bermuda growing there

Updated pics from 5/14/24.
Cut height 1.75”
1lb nitrogen applied early April
1lb nitrogen applied last week like May 9
Probably 5-7 cuts so far since the aeration, seeding , etc.
hoping the Bermuda continues to take over

Thin out or cut down the tree. It’s the only way.
