Cast Aluminum Mailbox

Someone ran into my mailbox so I'm in the market for a new one. I don't want to be the only one in the neighborhood without the cast aluminum so...anyone have a go to in the Baton Rouge area? A google search provided this
Cast Aluminum Mailbox
But I wasn't sure if that was the only option in the area.

I've replaced mine twice in the past couple years. Both times someone (probably drunk) ran it over late at night. Neither person came to tell me.
From what I have gathered, the postal service wants mailboxes to be made of a material that easily gives way when hit. It might be the law in some areas, so I would check. If the mailbox is marked "approved by the postmaster" it is fine.
If you live in a snooty neighborhood with an HOA, there might be other rules to follow, so check with them.
I will say that if your mailbox has been ran over, I would not spend a lot replacing it because it might just get ran over again. Unless you have an HOA that demands a certain box, I would just buy a Lowes special plastic box.
Also, when installing it, make sure the bottom of the door is between 41 and 45 inches above the road surface and that the box is 6-8 inches back from the curb.. Some mail carriers are anal and will leave you a note saying they won't deliver unless you put your mailbox at the right height.

I won't say its a requirement, but I would be the only one without it. Chances of it getting run over again is unlikely. I live in a quiet little one road neighborhood....it was someone in my family that did it this time

I got tired of replacing the mailbox when we lived in a neighborhood with lots of drunk drivers and high-school vandals. Sometimes the posts got run over, sometimes the boxes were bashed in with baseball bats.
So I got a standard-size steel mailbox, removed the door, wrapped the sides and back in chicken wire, set that inside a bigger rural mailbox, and poured in enough cement to fill the cavity.
You'd open the big rural mailbox door to see a smaller mailbox shell inside, encased in cement.
I attached that to a strong steel pole, set the pole in cement, and made a flimsy-looking wood cover around the pole with stapled wood planks.
I got a kick out of seeing tiny, star-shaped dents appear on the outside of that cement-filled outer mailbox.
Hitting that cement cylinder with a baseball bat probably didn't feel great.

My FIL bought a large plastic one on a pedestal base. He inserted 2x4s down the pedestal shaft then poured some concrete in there too. I pity the fool who hits it.

We got ours at Byron’s Furniture in Port Allen a long time ago. Maybe take a look there?

Yep that’s the one I linked. It’s Bryan’s furniture/the mailbox guy. Seems like he pretty much has the market, but I didn’t know about the one heady posted.

I built that concrete reinforced mailbox over 30 years ago.
Just did a Google street view of that former home and saw that the current owners replaced it with a badass brick masonry mailbox.
Way classier but less fun.
