Explain how Atlas Pinnacle is better than Owens Corning Duration. I can’t wait to hear this

Make sure you’re getting the limitless wind warranty. If you aren’t, find a new contractor.

4 of our rent houses have to be reroofed after the storm.

If i saw a roofer up there with a gun nailer and atlas shingles, I’d have to pull out a paintball gun.

Good luck getting a reputable licensed contractor out in a timely manner that's willing to hand nail.

And to get the "unlimited" wind warranty he will need a GAF master elite contractor which by judging that pathetic hand written quote, i doubt he is. He will also need to purchase the overly expensive Golden Pledge warranty from GAF. Then they will just deny any actual warranty claim when those crappy GAF shingles blow off...

I think I'm going with OC Duration anyway.

The proposal you see is not from the same contractor who told me about the humidity with nails stuff.

The contractor who told me that is a GAF master elite contractor, who of course, also told me that he'd put OC shingles on my roof, but his standard labor/materials warranty would be slashed from 5 years to 2.

I think his GAF price with the Golden Pledge came to about $10,500 or so, without, about $8200.

Biggest difference nowadays is the warranty. Atlas will cover everything if their warranty is needed. I had a client who had OC shingles and they had a roof issue and OC said “yep that’s our problem. Something wrong with the shingles. Here’s a credit for the shingles to have them replaced.” That’s it. Homeowner was responsible for everything else. Labor, cap nails, coil nails, felt, hip and ridge, ice and water. OC literally just covered the shingles. I’ll never push anyone to OC due to that experience

Would you happen to know a rough freight charge for getting about 18 squares of shingles shipped from one supply house to another (about 350 miles distance)?

The roofer is telling me, "It seems pretty steep for $900 freight, so I'll cut it down to $400."

Is it realistically $400 most days?

Sorry for the late reply, wife's been sick.

I was told both brands are good but the OC has the edge. I just don't know why. Maybe brand familiarity?

I don't deal with many shingle projects and when I do, I lean on our company's President for his expertise. Prior to owning our company he ran a roofing supply house for years and got to see roofing from the supply side. Maybe that's why we install GAF.
