Bosch 800 series dishwasher question

I got one installed by the Home Depot yesterday. For anyone that has one, is there a kick/toe plate at the bottom? Unfortunately I let my wife meet the installers, and she didn’t look it over closely after install. There is a black piece of rubber that hangs down to the floor that tucks around the adjustable legs but no kick plate behind or in front of that rubber piece to block the gap between the bottom of the door and the floor. The instruction book is for multiple series and I can’t tell if it was supposed to have a kick plate but a kick plate is referenced in the install guide for certain series. That black piece of rubber looks cheap and will likely wear out because it moves when I open and shut the door. Thanks for any input. Thankfully I had electricians at the house doing something else and didn’t have the delivery folks try to figure out how to wire it up. They didn’t sound to capable on the phone.

I have a Bosch SHX878ZD5N and it came with a black kick plate covering the rubber piece

Funny you ask because I have that rubber piece and felt the same way. No plate covering it.
Just thought it was a quirk and now I'm wondering if I got hosed.

I just installed a 500 series. Black kick plate was installed.

Sounds like a mixed opinion on this.
Get the model number and look over the parts list.
Did they possibly leave the install instructions?

Not whatever instructions they may have been given but I have the manual. The manual is for multiple numbers, and does have instructions for installation of the kick plate. I guess I’ll call them and ask. These contract delivery guys aren’t that sharp as best I can tell. I am just greatful I had electricians there to make the electrical connection. I can only image what it would have looked like had these two yahoos had to figure out electrical wiring. This was my second delivery. The first unit they tried to deliver was completely crumpled in the front. I can’t believe they tried to deliver it in the first place. I’ll post what I find out from “customer service.”

Well the Home Depot customer service department was actually pretty quick and helpful. There was supposed to be a toe plate and they scheduled a corrective install. Takes a week and a 4 hour window, but they are supposedly coming back with the toe plate.
Thanks for everyone's response. It does appear that if you are missing one, there are some available on Amazon.
As for the dishwasher, I will comment that although many on here give it great reviews, it does not hold bowls or any dish with a fairly big lip nearly as well as the GE I replaced. I'm sure I will get used to it, and will be satisfied with it, but I was able to load my old GE much easier with more dishes. Time will tell. It is extremely quite and has a helpful red dot to show that it is running. I did not notice however, any improvement in drying excess water off dishes like this model is marketed for.
ANyway, thanks again for all the input.

Should have saved $500 and went with a GE or 500 series bosch, then taken the money you saved and hired someone that knows what they’re doing and cares about their work
The guy from Home Depot was more than likely driving trucks or selling rocks last week

Agree with that, but the "boss" picked this dishwasher and wasn't having any logical arguments about a lower series or different brand. Also agree with trying to get a more professional installer, but I couldnt find the appliance anywhere that wasn't a several month wait and secondly I figured that a dishwasher was probably the easiest appliance to have installed. Live and learn I guess.

I don't know boss, the 500 doesn't have crystal dry.

Well I'll be damned. Knew something was up.

I took out the silverware basket on the bottom rack and load all my silverware on the top rack. Takes longer to load silverware, but it is easy to grab and put away since all spoons, forks, knives, etc are lined up in a row. I can fit a ton of stuff in the dishwasher. Big lipped items go on the side where the silverware basket would have been. I don’t know how it does it, but it all gets clean even when it looks like I blocked the spray everywhere with dishes laying flat almost at times. Baked on cheese and other seemingly hard to remove grime washes right off.

it does load a little different than the ge's. i replaced a ge with bosch a couple years ago. bosch cleans much better and holds probably 30% more dishes. it doesn't have a heater like the old style ge's. to get plastic dishes dry, you need to use rinse agent and the dry setting if you have one. my ceramics and utensils are completely dry on the hour cycle with no heat

Same experience and I did same thing with utensils. Though I did keep one basket on the bottom to use occasionally.

I’ll parrot everyone else, why not?
Our old GE loaded much better and possibly dried better than our 500 series. But, I think the 500 cleans better and after the GE only lasting 7 years, I wasn’t buying another.

Mine has a kick plate that goes over the rubber

To follow up, of course HD wasted a half day waiting on them to come back with the toe plate. The delivery guys get here at 530 only to tell me they dont have the parts. It costs way too much money in time and missed work trying to meet these bozos that I just found the toe plate and parts on the Bosche website. If you have that rubber piece that hangs down and are missing the toe plat, the part numbers are 00628336 for the brackets (need 2 of them), 00746492 for the toe plate, and 00188670 for the screws. For $50 in parts and about 5 minutes of time, I will just fix this myself. Hope this helps someone that also got screwed out of a complete and competent installation. My model number was SHXM78Z55N.

So how are you liking the 800? I have an older piece of garbage that is on its last leg and the Bosch is what brand I was leaning toward.

It cleans and dries well. I haven’t figured out how to load it efficiently yet. It’s different from my prior ge in that the spacing between the pins that hold plates is different and I can’t seem to find a good space for some over-sized bowls. I liked the ge better for loading but I’m sure over time I’ll figure it out. It’s odd to have to think about how to
Load a dishwasher. I replaced the ge because I had to have it repaired twice over 10 years (for practically what a new one would have cost) and within the last year, I have had to turn the hot water on at the sink before starting it in order for it to get hot water in the dishwasher. I’m sure that was some undiagnosed issue but it was simply easier to replace than to schedule a service call. Since ordering, I have learned that the 800 series has a couple models and one model has a deeper third row rack than the one I ordered. I did not realize that and wish I had gotten that version. The third row rack on my model is fine for forks etc, but I wish I had ordered the one with the “myway rack” which can accommodate small bowls in addition to silverware. And, I’ll never order from a big box store again. Three times I have had to meet the delivery people and each time I have my doubts about their capabilities.
