I’m sick and tired of buying products that last only 4-6 months. I replaced our garden hose 6 times in the first two years I owned my home until I found the classic craftsman black rubber hose:
Craftsman hose
Going on 7 years now and showing no signs of wear, no kinking, dry rot, leaking connections, etc. Good as the day I bought it.
In conjunction with the hose, I was going through nozzles even faster until I found these:
Craftsman fire hose nozzle
It’s held up every bit as well as the garden hose, and I liked them so much I bought a few more to give out to my parents who used to have the same problem with running through them like bad Mexican food, but they are still using their’s going on 7 years as well.
I am sharing these because I’m hoping you can help me find similarly durable tools, namely shovels. I remember my parents having to replace shovels maybe once in 20 years, but I’ve probably gone through at least one a year for the past 8 years. Are there any decent brands still out there?
Feel free to share any other examples of durable/reliable purchases you’ve made for working around your home.

I just had to make a repair on mine after 13 years of service. It had started to bubble near the nozzle end, and eventually ruptured. Only lost about 2” of hose length and it’s back in service.

I bought a couple of Rogue 55F - 5.5" Field Hoes a few years ago.
The blades maintain a very sharp edge without frequent sharpening and the handles are very sturdy. They're easily the best I've ever seen and ever used.
If you're not already familiar with them, they're made here in America from recycled disc blades.
I just noticed the company has added additional similarly made tools since I bought mine. LINK

I have some old craftsmen hoses and newer craftsmen hoses and they changed something with them. I have broken two ends off of the newer hoses, my old hoses are probably 10 years old and are fine.

Consumers may find different versions of Craftsman products at the different outlets that sell them because after the sale of Craftsman to SBD, the entities are free to source Craftsman from the suppliers of their own choosing. For example, a Craftsman screwdriver sold at Sears is currently typically sourced from a vendor in China, an equivalent model at Lowes sourced from a supplier in Taiwan, and one sold at Ace may still be the original Western Forge USA made product that was sold by Sears for many years prior to the sale of Craftsman to SBD.

Bought a Generac 7.5 kw generator to cover the basics; had one I got after Katrina that lasted years with no problem but the '16 flood got it. Replaced it last year and the solenoid/starter failed after a year. Same with a Hitachi table saw; on/off switch went south and the replacement didn't work. Toasted the motor.
