We need about 80 bags this year. It’ll be the cheapest one for sure. Brown dyed from stine. Cypress has been out of budget for a long time and would be my choice if I had a small yard.

Don't get any of that rubber or artificial colored stuff. What exactly are you trying to cover with mulch?

If you want to improve your plant beds then you want to use a wood product that will break down over time like hardwood or pine bark. You want earthworms and microbes. It’s how nature has always done it. Cypress is often used because it doesn’t break down and no telling what is in that dyed mulch.

Every year Lowe’s does a sale, something like $2 per bag around April 1st. It’s only the cheap stuff, but just a heads up to wait a few weeks, they’ll probably have that sale again.

For me, crushed pine needle mulch.

Buy it in bags from Perino's in Metairie; spreads easily and goes far for the bag size compared to cypress mulch and bark; looks and smells good. Clegg's has it, too, I think.
